Saatva mattresses feature innovative coil-on-coil construction that provides a more supportive, body-contouring feel than most standard innersprings.
The mattresses have also been touted for minimal off-gassing, and each model is constructed using recycled steel, bio-based foams, and other eco-friendly components.
Saatva offers full-service delivery, a 120-day trial period, and a warranty that minimizes costs to the customer.
Saatva mattresses have been criticized for middling motion isolation.
The company also does not own or operate any showrooms or brick-and-mortar stores, which may be an issue for customers who prefer to test out mattresses in-person before buying one.

Saatva Mattress Sleep Ratings
What Saatva Users Say
Based on data collected, this is an overall customer sentiment regarding the Saatva Mattress.
Saatva customers have a higher than average satisfaction rating due in large part to the customer service (they will go above and beyond to ensure a positive experience), as well as the composition of the mattress.
The average mattress will perform for seven years before it needs to be replaced.
Most innerspring mattresses last between 6 and 7 years, and Saatva mattresses seem to be on par with this benchmark based on the components used in the bed and the customer experience data collected.
Mattresses that are overly responsive will create excess motion when someone gets up or shifts positions in bed, while others isolate the motion to that person’s area of the mattress.
Innersprings tend to create the most motion transfer. Saatva’s coil-on-coil configuration minimizes motion to some extent, but beds made of foam or latex are still the best option for motion isolation.
Bouncier, more responsive beds tend to be more enjoyable for sex.
The construction of the saatva gives it bounce which is generally preferable for sex and customers report that it’s easy to move around on as well. The weight of the bed helps keep it in place which is a plus compared to lighter innerspring options.
Mattresses that conform to a sleeper’s figure tend to provide more spinal support and pressure-point relief.
Saatva’s coil-on-coil construction and memory foam comfort layer offers higher levels conforming than many other innersprings — but it still falls short of latex and memory foam models.
‘Sleeping hot’ is a common complaint about beds that retain too much body heat, causing discomfort throughout the night.
Mattresses that contain foam and memory foam tend to sleep the hottest. Saatva mattresses contain memory foam in the comfort layer, making them a hotter than other innersprings (which are generally considered the coolest sleeping option). Keep in mind the plush model will likely sleep hotter than the other two given that a sleeper will sink deeper into the mattress.
Some mattresses emit particles when they are unpackaged, accompanied by unpleasant ‘off-gassing’ smells that can last for days.
Saatva’s website notes ‘no’ off-gassing during the manufacturing process, but some 10% of customers report slight smells that last for an average of 3-5 days after delivery.
The frame of an innerspring mattress is encased to support the springs and provide a suitable sleeping surface.
Innerspring mattresses tend to have optimal edge support and the Saatva is no exception. Customers report a consistent sleep surface (no-roll off when sleeping towards the edge) as well as above average push back when sitting on the edge of the mattress.
Innerspring mattresses tend to be somewhat noisy due to their high levels of bounciness and responsiveness, as well as squeaky metal components.
Noise complaints for the Saatva are on par with the average for all innersprings based on our data which has 7% of customers citing noise as a complaint.
Ease of Moving and Rotating
All mattresses are relatively heavy, but some can be more unwieldy than others.
Saatva mattresses are significantly heavier than the average innerspring, and must be rotated once per year for optimal performance. This will take at least two people to do and remember that the handles are not meant to lift but only to rotate the mattress.
