Nectar vs. Casper – Our 2022 Mattress Comparison Guide

Written by Tuck Staff

The Bottom Line.

  • The Nectar is the ideal choice for those who like a ‘Medium Firm’ mattress that conforms to the body.
  • The Casper also conforms closely, but has a slightly softer and more plush feel
  • Both beds have excellent motion isolation, produce minimal noise, and tend to sleep a bit hot.

Nectar vs. Casper Mattress Overview

Nectar vs. Casper Mattress Overview

Nectar Sleep first launched in 2016. Its flagship bed is the Nectar Mattress, which is designed with a memory foam comfort layer and a high-density polyfoam support core. The mattress measures 12 inches thick and is considered ‘Medium Firm,’ or a 6.5 on the 1-10 firmness scale.

Casper has been in business since 2014. The brand’s flagship mattress, the Casper Mattress, is constructed with polyfoam and memory foam comfort layers, and a high-density foam base. It is ‘Medium’ (5.5) in terms of firmness and measures 12 inches thick.

Please note: In addition to the Casper Mattress, Casper offers two mixed-foam beds – the Casper Essential and the Casper Wave – and two mixed-foam hybrids – the Casper Wave Hybrid and Casper Hybrid.

This comparison guide exclusively looks at similarities and differences between the Nectar Mattress and Casper Mattress. For more information about other Casper models, please visit our Casper Mattress Reviews page.

The Nectar Mattress and Casper Mattress share some composition similarities, but they also differ in several key ways. Sleep Position Ratings

The Nectar Mattress

The Nectar Mattress has a ‘Medium Firm’ feel. that best suits back and stomach sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds, as well as side sleepers weighing more than 230 pounds.

It may feel excessively firm for some sleepers, particularly side sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds; these sleepers typically require a softer mattress to cushion the shoulders and hips for better spinal alignment. Lighter back and stomach sleepers may also find the Nectar Mattress too firm.

The Casper Mattress

The Casper Mattress has a ‘Medium’ feel that conforms somewhat closely. This makes it suitable for side, back, and stomach sleepers who weigh 230 pounds or less.

Its lower-than-average profile may also be a good option for exceptionally lightweight people, who often struggle getting on and off of thicker beds. However, it may be too soft and conform too closely for some sleepers – namely back and stomach sleepers weighing more than 230 pounds.

Our Recommendations

Choose the Nectar if...

  • You prefer a ‘Medium Firm’ feel and moderate conforming
  • You weigh at least 130 pounds
  • You and/or your sleep partner awaken easily due to movement or noise
  • You tend to sleep hot on all-foam beds

Choose the Casper Mattress if...

  • You prefer softer mattresses and close conforming
  • You are a side sleeper who weighs less than 130 pounds

How Is the Nectar Mattress Built?

The Nectar Mattress has a comfort layer of gel-infused memory foam layer that measures 3 inches thick. This is followed by a 2-inch transitional layer of dense polyfoam that provides extra reinforcement for the sleep surface.

The mattress also has a 7-inch support core made from high-density polyfoam, which reinforces the entire bed and helps prevent sagging in the sleep surface. The bed’s total weight is 74 pounds in a queen size, which is light even by foam mattress standards.

The Nectar Mattress also sleeps fairly cool thanks to its gel-infused foam layer, offers good motion isolation, and doesn’t make noise when bearing weight.

How Is the Casper Mattress Built?

The Casper Mattress is designed with one memory foam comfort layer stacked between top and bottom polyfoam comfort layers, resulting in a ‘Medium’ feel. The mattress also has a support core made of high-density polyfoam, which helps the bed maintain an even, sag-free surface.

It weighs 71 pounds in a queen size, making it even lighter than the Nectar Mattress. It also offers great motion isolation and doesn’t make noise when bearing weight, meaning it is a good option for couples.
