Both Molecule mattress toppers sleep fairly cool for memory foam with the AirTEC edging out the Triple Zone in this category. This topper will be ideal for those who sleep hot, but its excellent temperature regulation means those who sleep cooler won’t be uncomfortable on it either. Both show good durability and support with proper spinal alignment and relief of pressure point areas like shoulders and hips. Both rank fair for sex, being a fairly non-responsive or bouncy foam mattress topper. Both rank well for couples in motion isolation and noise. The motion or noise of one person moving on the topper isn’t likely to disrupt the other sleeper.
What Type of Sleeper is Best Suited to a Molecule Topper?
Based on our customer feedback the Molecule mattress toppers have received the following grades among sleepers of different weights and preferred sleep positions. Please note that these ratings are subjective, and that everyone has varying experiences on different toppers, which are also influenced by the mattress beneath. Spinal support and comfort are the highest weighted factors when it comes to mattresses and mattress toppers.
For more information on sleeping positions please see our guides for side, back, stomach and combination sleepers.
Our in-house testing showed almost unanimous positive responses to both Molecule mattress toppers in all weight categories. We found the Triple-Zone mattress topper to be especially suited to average and heavy weight sleepers, particularly those who sleep on their backs. We found lightweight sleepers in all positions to have a better experience on the AirTEC mattress topper, rather than the triple-zone. The AirTEC mattress was also rated very good for average and heavy weight side sleepers.

Molecule AirTEC Mattress Topper
Built with three layers of foam, the AirTEC is three inches thick with a breathable cover designed to remove heat from the mattress topper. A 1-inch comfort layer is made from the same MolecularFLO open-cell memory foam found in the company’s Molecule 2 mattress. This layer boasts considerable airflow, an unusual quality in memory foam especially when compressed. The company’s patented AirTEC material is also 1-inch thick and composed of open-cell memory foam for added cooling. The bottom support layer consist of 1 inch of RecoveryFLO transitional polyfoam designed for support and spinal alignment.
Molecule Triple-Zone Mattress Topper
At 3 inches thick, this topper consists of two layers in an all-polyester removable cover. One inch of open-cell RestoreFLO memory foam assists with thermoregulation, leaving the sleeper at a comfortable temperature for the whole night. The second layer is 2 inches of zoned RecoveryFLO polyfoam. The foam beneath the body’s core is firmer, giving more support and pressure relief where needed. The area under the feet and under the head is softer for a more comfortable experience.
Firmness is rated on a scale of 1 to 10. For more information on how firmness is calculated, please visit our Mattress Firmness page.
Set-Up and Care Instructions
The covers on the Molecule mattress toppers unzip and are easy to remove. To launder, machine wash in cold water on a delicate cycle. Covers can be put in the dryer on a low setting and should be removed promptly. Spot cleaning is another option. A soft sponge or cloth with a diluted gentle soap and warm water is recommended.
The mattress topper itself should not be washed or dried. Gentle spot cleaning is recommended if needed.
