Helix Customer Satisfaction Rating Comparison

Helix Mattress Sleep Ratings

CategoryCriteriaHelix RatingWhat Helix Users Say
Customer SatisfactionBased on data collection, this is an overall customer sentiment regarding the Helix mattress.72%The customer satisfaction rating for Helix mattresses, 72%, is on par with the average rating for memory foam mattresses.
Durability Foam mattresses tend to be less durable than innerspring models, and the soft sleeping surface may be prone to indentations and sinkage at the edges. FairReports indicate that Helix mattresses have an average lifespan, but the company has only been selling mattresses for two years and their longevity has not yet been accurately assessed.
Motion IsolationFoam mattresses usually isolate motion to a significant extent whenever someone gets up or shifts positions, resulting in fewer nighttime disruptions  for couples.GoodOwners say Helix mattresses isolate motion and minimize nighttime disruptions to some extent, but other mixed foam models are more effective at absorbing and isolating transfer.
Sex Some couples report that foam mattresses are less than ideal for sex, mostly due to the unresponsive sleep surface that can create feelings of ‘fighting’ against the mattress.GoodHelix mattresses are a bit more responsive than all-foam or latex models, due in part to the pocketed microcoil layer, but the dual-firmness designs may feature trench-like sagging in the midsection.
ConformingFoam mattresses are designed to conform to sleeper’s bodies, which improves spinal alignment and relieves pressure points.GoodThe foam used in these mattresses does not conform as closely as memory foam, but Helix owners say they experience a fair amount of pressure and pain relief.
Temperature NeutralityFoam mattresses tend to retain more body heat and ‘sleep hotter’ than innerspring or latex mattresses.FairHelix mattresses tend to sleep hot according to owners, which is typical of mattresses that feature foam-based comfort layers.
Off-gassingSome mattresses produce unpleasant odors known as off-gassing when they are removed from their packaging, and these smells may linger for several days.GoodHelix customers report a small amount of off-gassing that usually dissipates within a couple of days.
Edge SupportFoam mattresses generally have minimal edge support compared to innerspring models, and sinkage may occur where people tend to sit at the edges of the bed. FairThe microcoils in the comfort layer lends some edge support to the Helix mattress, but premature sinkage at the edges has been reported by owners.
NoiseFoam beds are generally much quieter than innersprings and hybrids, due to their lack of potentially creaky metal components.ExcellentReports indicate that Helix mattresses are virtually silent when bearing weight.
Ease of Moving and RotatingFoam beds tend to be lighter than innersprings, but they need to be regularly rotated in order to preserve the conforming sleep surface. FairA Queen-size Helix mattress weighs 80 to 90 pounds, which is heavier than the average all-foam mattress; this is due in part to the metal microcoil components.

Sleep Trial and Warranty Information

Trial Period and Guarantee: Helix offers a 100-night sleep trial on all mattresses.

  1. There is no break-in period, so customers are allowed to return their mattress for a full product refund at any point during the trial period.
  2. Helix allows customers to exchange their mattress for a model of a different size, but exchanges for models with different firmness configurations are not available.
  3. The process for initiating a return is as follows:
    • Customers should email Helix with a subject line that reads ‘Return Request — [order/tracking number]’. The body of the email should include the customer’s full name and a brief description of why they are returning the mattress.
    • The Helix customer service team will respond within one to two business days and arrange a removal date.
  4. All returned mattresses are recycled or donated to charity.
  5. Once a refund has been issued to a customer, it will take roughly five to seven business days before the money shows up in their account statement.

Warranty: Helix offers a 10-year limited warranty on all mattresses.

  1. Warranty coverage will begin on the original date of purchase. Helix will, at their sole discretion, choose to either repair or replace all mattresses with defects for as long as the warranty is valid.
  2. Helix mattresses are designed for use on ‘a firm, solid-surface, on a bed base that is structurally capable’ of supporting both the mattress and the sleeper(s). Failure to utilize a proper foundation may result in denied warranty claims and/or a voided warranty.
  3. The warranty will cover the following defects:
    • Deterioration in the sleep surface that causes indentations measuring 1″ or deeper.
    • Physical flaws in the mattress that cause the material to split or crack despite proper use and foundational support.
    • Manufacturing defects pertaining to the cover, including the zipper.
  4. The warranty does not cover the following:
    • A ‘normal increase’ in the softness of the sleep surface that does not affect its pressure-relieving abilities, or indentations that measure less than 1″. These are both considered standard wear and tear.
    • Repair or replacement requests that occur due to changes in the customer’s comfort preference.
    • Burns, cuts, tears, stains, and other types of damage caused directly by the owner.
  5. Customers who wish to return a defective mattress must ship the item to Helix at their own expense and include a copy of the original proof of purchase. If the mattress is deemed defective, Helix will reimburse the owner for up to $100 of these shipping charges.
  6. Customers have the option of exchanging their current mattress for an upgrade model. In this case, the customer will pay the difference between the original model and the upgrade. It’s important to note that upgrade models will receive new limited warranty coverage that extends for 10 years after the customer has received their upgrade. Most customers receive their upgrade mattress within 90 days of returning their original model. Replacement mattresses that are not upgrades will follow the same warranty coverage as the original model.
  7. Warranty coverage is exclusively offered to the original purchaser. Anyone who acquires or buys a Helix mattress from the purchaser or a third-party mattress retailer will do so ‘as is’, and will not be eligible for warranty protection.
