DreamCloud Premier Mattress Review

The Bottom Line.

  • The DreamCloud Premier is a Euro-top hybrid mattress that offers a balance of close body-contouring and strong coil support.
  • All buyers receive a 365-night sleep trial and lifetime warranty.
  • The mattress regulates temperature quite well thanks to steady airflow through the coil layer and a breathable, cashmere blend cover.

DreamCloud Premier Mattress Overview

DreamCloud Premier Mattress Overview

DreamCloud is an online “bed-in-a-box” mattress brand that has been in business since 2018. This review will take a close look at the DreamCloud Premier, which builds on the design of DreamCloud’s flagship model..

The DreamCloud Premier begins with a Euro-top sewn into the surface. This layer is padded with memory foam to create a plush feel when sleepers lie down on the mattress. Other components include a memory foam comfort layer and polyfoam transitional layer. The support core consists of zoned individually wrapped coils and a base layer of high-density polyfoam, while the cover is a breathable cashmere blend. Altogether, the DreamCloud Premier measures 15 inches thick. Its feel is best described as medium firm, which corresponds to a 6.5 on the 1-10 firmness scale.

Read on to learn all about the DreamCloud Premier in terms of construction and materials, prices and sizes, and performance ratings based on our own product testing. We’ll also see how this mattress compares to competing hybrid models and provide an overview of DreamCloud’s shipping, return, and warranty policies.

General Overview

  • Sleepers who prefer a balance of contouring and responsiveness. The DreamCloud Premier’s foam layers conform closely and evenly to the sleeper’s body, while zoned individually wrapped coils ensure springiness and strong support.
  • People who weigh at least 130 pounds. While the DreamCloud Premier has earned positive ratings from our sleep testers across different weight groups, the most favorable feedback has come from average weight and heavyweight sleepers.
  • Hot sleepers. Like other hybrids, the DreamCloud Premier generally sleeps cool and won’t absorb too much body heat. This can be attributed to steady air circulation through the coil layer and a cashmere cover to regulate surface temperatures.
  • Shoppers looking for a long sleep trial. DreamCloud’s trial period lasts one year, making it one of the longest in the industry. The mattress also comes with a lifetime warranty for added peace of mind.

Not Recommended for...

  • Sleepers who prefer deep body-contouring. The DreamCloud Premier’s foam layers conform a bit, but not as much as those found in most all-foam mattresses.
  • People who would rather sleep on a shorter low-profile mattress. The DreamCloud Premier measures 15 inches thick, making it a fairly thick mattress compared to other bed-in-a-box models. Some sheet sets don’t offer enough pocket depth to fit this bed.

How Is the DreamCloud Premier Constructed?

Cover

The DreamCloud Premier is encased in a cover made from a blend of cashmere and other fabrics. Cashmere is naturally breathable and also wicks away moisture from the sleeper’s body, so this component helps the mattress keep cool. The cover is not removable; owners should spot clean the fabric if spills occur.

Comfort Layers

The DreamCloud Premier includes a Euro-top, which is sewn flush with the edges of the mattress to create a uniform appearance. The Euro-top is cushioned with memory foam and gives the mattress a plush initial feel.

The bed’s primary comfort layer is composed of gel-infused memory foam. This material conforms closely and reacts slowly to the sleeper’s body, resulting in a gentle, body-cradling sensation as they sink into the surface of the mattress.

Transitional Layer

A transitional layer of dense polyfoam rests beneath the memory foam comfort layer. This component provides extra padding while also preventing sleepers from sinking too deeply and coming into contact with the coil system.

Support Layers

Like other hybrid models, the DreamCloud Premier features an individually wrapped coil layer in the support core. This layer is zoned, meaning thicker coils are placed along the edges to stabilize the perimeter while thinner coils rest beneath the sleeper’s body for more comfortable cradling.

A thin layer of high-density polyfoam is located beneath the coils for extra reinforcement.

Mattress Height

The DreamCloud Premier measures 15 inches thick, which makes it a high-profile mattress. This above-average height ensures enough space for a Euro-top and thick comfort layer without sacrificing coil thickness, so the result is a medium firm mattress that feels quite supportive and contours to the body.

What Are the Firmness and Feel Like?

The DreamCloud Premier offers a medium firm feel. The memory foam layers contour evenly to create some body-cradling but the mattress also provides strong support from its coil and base layers. For many people, the DreamCloud Premier will create a feeling akin to both sleeping “in” and sleeping “on” the mattress, as opposed to one or the other.

The coils also make this mattress feel fairly responsive, resulting in a light bounce when owners change positions or get in and out of bed. Some people – lightweight side sleepers in particular – may find the mattress too stiff, but most sleepers weighing more than 130 pounds should feel comfortable and adequately supported.

Ratings Breakdown

Performance Ratings

Next, let’s take an in-depth look at our performance ratings for the DreamCloud Premier. These ratings are based on findings and product analysis from our in-house testing team.

Durability

The DreamCloud Premier was released in 2020, and the brand itself has been in business since 2018. We haven’t had enough time to evaluate this model against the average mattress lifespan of six to eight years, so our durability rating is based on other factors. These include the bed’s quality of materials and design, as well as DreamCloud’s reputation as a mattress manufacturer.

We expect the DreamCloud Premier to perform for about seven years before a replacement will be needed. This estimated lifespan is on par with the average hybrid. The mattress features a zoned coil system that should provide long-lasting stability, especially along the edges where the bed is most susceptible to sinkage. That said, mattresses with Euro-tops like this model tend to soften and lose shape on the surface more quickly than those with standard comfort layers. Over time, the mattress will probably develop body impressions that affect how supportive it feels.

Owners can preserve their DreamCloud Premier to some extent by rotating the mattress head to foot every three to six months.

Motion Isolation

Two of our testers evaluated the DreamCloud Premier for motion isolation by lying side by side on the mattress. One tester moved around while the other felt for motion transferring across the surface. During these tests, the DreamCloud Premier exceeded expectations for a hybrid model. The Euro-top and memory foam comfort layer absorb a lot of movement from sleepers, which in turn reduces transfer despite the bed’s responsive coil system.

Co-sleepers who are highly sensitive to movements in bed may experience some disturbances on the DreamCloud Premier, as the coils do generate some transfer. However, most couples should sleep quite soundly.

Off-Gassing

Our testers noticed some moderate off-gassing odor after unboxing the DreamCloud Premier. These initial smells can be attributed to the memory foam and polyfoam layers, which release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that carry a distinct chemical odor. However, the smells had mostly dissipated within a few days of the unboxing. The coils help to flush out bothersome odors rather quickly, but owners should still expect off-gassing smells when the mattress is brand new.

Pressure Relief

To evaluate the DreamCloud Premier for pressure relief, our testers took turns lying on the mattress with a sensory pad that tracks pressure buildup in the shoulders, lower back, and hips. They also changed positions to see if pressure increased or decreased on their back, sides, or stomach.

Pressure relief is another category where the DreamCloud Premier outperforms many competing hybrids. The plush Euro-top and memory foam comfort layer cushion and contour to the body in order to align the spine and reduce pressure points in sensitive areas, but the transitional and support layers prevent deep sinkage that often causes added pressure to occur. Some may find the mattress too firm, but most heavier people will rest comfortably without sagging.

Temperature Neutrality

During our tests, we found that the DreamCloud Premier offers consistent temperature control – a shared attribute among many hybrid models. The coils promote consistent airflow to maintain a comfortable core temperature, while a cover made from breathable cashmere keeps sleepers cool and dry thanks to the material’s natural moisture-wicking properties.

Some heavier individuals may feel warmer on the DreamCloud Premier because they sink more deeply, causing them to feel less surface airflow, but most people weighing up to 230 pounds will sink to a minimal extent and feel reasonably cool.

Edge Support

To evaluate the DreamCloud Premier for edge support, our testers sat along the perimeter of the mattress as one might do when getting in and out of bed. They also took turns lying near the edges to check for feelings of “roll-off,” which are akin to being ejected by the mattress.

All of our testers – even those in the heavyweight group – reported strong edge support from the DreamCloud Premier. This is largely thanks to the bed’s zoned coil system. Thicker low-gauge coils positioned along the perimeter provide push-back when people get on and off the mattress, which in turn prevent the edges from sinking excessively. The testers also felt quite secure lying near the edges. This means couples will be able to utilize the entire surface of the mattress and probably won’t feel confined to the midsection.

Noise

The DreamCloud Premier did not produce any noise during our tests, even those involving movement on and off the mattress. The individually wrapped coils in this model’s support core are fairly quiet compared to other coil types, and the thick foam layers muffle internal sounds quite well. Owners may notice some squeaking and creaking from their mattress as it nears the end of its lifespan, but we don’t anticipate major noise-related issues from the DreamCloud Premier.

Sex

Although every couple has different preferences for romantic activities, the DreamCloud Premier will check a lot of boxes for most. The foam layers conform to provide decent traction, allowing couples to maintain one position for longer periods of time, while the coils create a responsive surface feel that promotes easy movement across the mattress without excessive sinkage. Additionally, strong edge support means couples can use the entire surface of the mattress without feeling unstable near the edges.

Sleeper Ratings

The ideal firmness and thickness for a mattress largely depend on a sleeper’s body weight, shape, and preferred sleep position. In order to better inform our readers and avoid subjectivity in our review, our team evaluated the bed with sleep testers of varying body types and position preferences.

Lightweight Sleepers – Less than 130 lbs.

While our lightweight testers were somewhat divided about the DreamCloud Premier, they all agreed the mattress was a bit too firm for their liking. This was especially true for side sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds. This sleeper group often requires ample padding and a deep contour to align the spine and alleviate pressure in the shoulders and hips. Despite padding from the Euro-top, the bed’s medium firm feel was too stiff.

Back and stomach sleepers in this weight group felt more comfortable. While a slightly softer surface would have been preferable, they noted that the mattress maintained an even plane for their bodies. Added pressure was not an issue and they were able to move across the surface without sinking too much.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 to 230 lbs.

Ratings for the DreamCloud Premier from our testers in the average weight group also varied by sleep position. Side sleepers weighing 130 to 230 pounds were more comfortable than their lighter counterparts, but they still agreed the mattress was slightly too firm and did not provide enough cushioning. That said, they felt adequately supported and did not sink too much.

Back sleepers in this weight group awarded the mattress very favorable ratings. The bed’s medium firm feel ensures little – if any – sinkage beneath the torso, lower back, and hips. These areas are prone to pressure points on mattresses that do not provide enough reinforcement. Stomach sleepers in the average weight group did not face any support issues, but they found the Euro-top felt a bit too plush while lying face-down. Many stomach sleepers struggle with Euro-top beds for this very reason.

Heavyweight Sleepers – More than 230 lbs.

Among our heavyweight testers, the highest ratings for the DreamCloud Premier came from side sleepers. Unlike those in the lightweight and average weight groups, side sleepers weighing more than 230 pounds felt adequate cushioning for their shoulders and hips, which in turn improved their spinal alignment and reduced pressure points throughout the body.

In contrast, heavyweight back and stomach sleepers found the mattress slightly too soft. These sleepers typically need a firm or extra firm bed to eliminate sinkage beneath the heavier areas of their body. The DreamCloud Premier was not excessively soft, but they did notice some moderate sinkage around the midsection and waist.

How Does the DreamCloud Premier Compare to Other Beds?

When looking for a new mattress, we always encourage shoppers to browse different brands and models in order to find the most suitable options. In the next section, we’ll see how the DreamCloud Premier compares to DreamCloud’s flagship mattress, as well as some hybrids and innersprings from competing brands.

DreamCloud Premier vs. DreamCloud Mattress

The DreamCloud Mattress is also a hybrid model, albeit slightly shorter than the DreamCloud Premier. This model does not contain a Euro-top component. While there is some foam padding in the cover, the mattress does not offer the plush cushioning feel of the DreamCloud Premier.

Aside from these differences, these mattresses are quite similar. They both feature substantial comfort layers to ensure closer conforming and better pressure relief than many competing hybrids, as well as above-average motion isolation. Both models also contain zoned coil layers to protect the edges from sinkage. They share similar medium firm (6.5) feels, as well.

Their prices are also on par with one another. Although the Premier is more expensive, both models are reasonably priced for hybrids. Customers should base their decision on whether or not they prefer Euro-top padding, as this is the only significant difference between the DreamCloud and DreamCloud Premier.

DreamCloud Premier vs. Brooklyn Bedding Signature

The Brooklyn Bedding Signature is a hybrid model constructed with an adaptive polyfoam comfort layer. This material conforms much like memory foam, but it is also more responsive and won’t cradle the body to the same extent. This may be a pro or a con for sleepers, depending on how much they like the feel of memory foam.

A clear advantage of the Signature is firmness options. Customers can choose between three feels for their mattress: soft (3.5), medium (5.5), or firm (7.5). This range should accommodate most people regardless of their body type, sleep position, or comfort preferences. The DreamCloud Premier, on the other hand, is only available with a medium firm (6.5) feel – but this may be the most comfortable firmness level for some. In other categories such as edge support, motion isolation, and temperature neutrality, both mattresses have earned comparable ratings.

The Brooklyn Bedding Signature costs slightly less than the DreamCloud Premier, but both models are inexpensive compared to the average hybrid. Those who prefer the medium firm feel should consider the Premier, while those who would rather sleep on a softer or firmer bed may want to consider the Signature instead.

DreamCloud Premier vs. Layla Hybrid

The Layla Hybrid is a reversible memory foam hybrid. One side of the mattress has a medium (5) feel, while the other side has a firm (7) feel. This makes the Layla Hybrid suitable for anyone who finds the DreamCloud Premier slightly too soft or too firm.

Both surfaces of the Layla Hybrid feature memory foam that contours evenly to the body. The foam is also infused with copper, which has natural cooling and antimicrobial properties. However, the DreamCloud Premier’s Euro-top provides more cushioning, so this model is better suited to those who prefer a plusher surface for their mattress. One shared strength between these two models is strong edge support, which in both cases can be attributed to zoned individually wrapped coils.

Customers will pay a bit more for the Layla Hybrid, but this model is still reasonably priced compared to the average hybrid model. Those who appreciate the versatility of a flippable mattress with two firmness levels will probably be drawn to the Layla Hybrid, but the DreamCloud Premier’s medium firm feel also offers a good balance of contouring and support.

DreamCloud Premier vs. Saatva

Like the DreamCloud Premier, the flagship Saatva Classic begins with a Euro-top layer that delivers good cushioning on the surface. However, this is mostly where the construction similarities end. Other components of the Saatva include polyfoam and memory foam comfort layers, a transitional layer of individually wrapped minicoils, and a support core of recycled-steel bonnell coils. The bed’s coil-on-coil design makes it very responsive and supportive, but motion isolation and contouring are fairly limited.

The Saatva is highly customizable, as well. Customers can choose from three firmness levels – medium soft (4), medium firm (6), or firm (7.5) – as well as 11.5-inch or 14.5-inch profiles. The DreamCloud’s single firmness and thickness options will be more limiting for customers. However, both mattresses sleep quite cool thanks to steady coil airflow and offer sturdy perimeter reinforcement.

Prices are very comparable for these mattresses, and each brand offers different customer perks. Saatva provides free White Glove delivery, including in-home assembly and old mattress removal, for all customers in the contiguous U.S. Meanwhile, DreamCloud Premier owners receive a 365-night sleep trial and a lifetime warranty for their mattress.

DreamCloud Premier vs. WinkBed

Like the Brooklyn Bedding Signature and Saatva, the WinkBed is available in multiple firmness levels. Standard WinkBed models contain polyfoam and minicoil layers over a support core of individually wrapped coils. These beds are available with medium soft (4.5), medium firm (6.5), or firm (7.5) feels. Additionally, the WinkBed Plus (8) – which is specifically designed for heavier people – features a thick latex layer for extra reinforcement.

The DreamCloud Premier and WinkBed both excel at edge support thanks to zoned coil layers that deliver added reinforcement to the perimeter. Temperature neutrality is another shared benefit, although the WinkBed and WinkBed Plus sleep a bit cooler due to more breathable comfort and transitional layers. The DreamCloud isolates motion better for couples due to its less responsive foams, and sleepers will notice closer body-contouring too.

The WinkBed and WinkBed Plus cost considerably more than the DreamCloud Premier. Those with flexible budgets should determine which firmness level is best for them based on weight and choose accordingly, though the medium firm WinkBed and DreamCloud Premier are very comparable in terms of feel and performance.
