Saatva vs. WinkBeds Mattress Overview
Saatva vs. WinkBeds Mattress Overview
Saatva first launched in 2011. The brand’s flagship bed, the Saatva, is coil-on-coil innerspring mattress with a foam-padded Euro-top cover, followed by polyfoam and memory foam comfort layers and a pocketed coil transitional layer. The support core is constructed with steel bonnell coils. The Saatva is available in 11 1/2 inch and 14 1/2 inch thickness profiles, as well as three different firmness settings: ‘Medium Soft’ (4), ‘Medium Firm’ (6), and ‘Firm’ (7.5).
In addition to the flagship model, Saatva also offers the Saatva HD model, a coil-on-coil innerspring specifically designed for heavier individuals. The mattress is constructed with a top comfort layer of zoned Talalay latex, followed by additional polyfoam and memory foam comfort layers. The support core features offset coils reinforced with sidewalls and a base made from high-density foam. The Saatva HD has a 15 1/2 inch profile and is considered ‘Firm’ (7).
WinkBeds was founded in 2016. The brand’s flagship bed, known as the WinkBed, features a sophisticated comfort system with layers of polyfoam, gel polyfoam, and foam-encased pocketed microcoils, along with a compressed-cotton lumbar pad to alleviate lower back pain. The support core has pocketed coils reinforced with a high-density foam encasement and base layer. The WinkBed measures 13 1/2 inches thick and comes in ‘Medium Soft’ (4), ‘Medium Firm’ (6.5), and ‘Firm’ (7.5) settings.
Like Saatva, WinkBeds also offers a mattress specifically designed for heavier people. The WinkBed Plus is a specialized version of the standard WinkBed. It features a top gel polyfoam comfort layer and substitutes a 2 1/2 inch latex layer for the polyfoam and pocketed microcoil comfort components, creating a more supportive surface that is less susceptible to sagging. The WinkBed Plus measures 13 1/2 inches and is considered ‘Firm’ (8).
Please note: In addition to the Saatva and Saatva HD, Saatva sells three other beds: the Loom & Leaf luxury memory foam mattress, the Zenhaven flippable latex mattress, and the Solaire adjustable airbed. WinkBeds also offers another bed, the GravityLux memory foam mattress.
The Saatva and WinkBeds models share some key similarities, such as a coil-on-coil design, multiple firmness options, and below-average price-points. The Saatva HD and WinkBed Plus also offer comparable support for heavier individuals. However, Saatva and WinkBeds also differ in several keys. This guide will compare both brands in terms of model construction, pricing, and performance, along with shipping, return, and warranty policies.

Motion Isolation
x
A measure of how effectively a mattress absorbs motion across its surface, preventing partner disturbance.
Like other innersprings, the Saatva mattress does not absorb or minimize motion to a significant extent. This may be problematic for certain sleepers, such as couples who share a bed, since minimal motion isolation can lead to sleep disruptions.

Pressure Relief
x
This refers to the degree to which a mattress molds to or cradles the contours of the body. This helps alleviate pressure point pain, especially on the hips and shoulders.
Saatva features coil-on-coil construction and memory foam in the comfort layer. This allows the mattress to conform more closely and relieve pressure to a greater extent than many competing innersprings — but all-foam and latex mattresses are considered the best option for sleepers that prefer close conforming and targeted pressure relief.

Temperature Neutrality
x
The temperature of a mattress throughout the night is affected by how much body heat is retained. Several factors affect temperature neutrality, including material composition, layer thickness, and dissipation of heat through airflow.
Mattresses that contain foam and memory foam tend to sleep the hottest. Saatva has a more traditional innerspring construction so our testing along with data analysis show that it's one of the cooler mattress options on the market today compared to all-foam competitors.

Sleep Ratings Comparison
Saatva and Saatva HD
The flagship Saatva offers three firmness settings – ‘Medium Soft,’ ‘Medium Firm,’ and ‘Firm’ – along with 11 1/2 inch and 14 1/2 inch profiles. This range should accommodate most sleepers regardless of their weight, sleep position, or comfort preferences.
Lighter individuals – particularly side sleepers – are likely to prefer the softer setting, which offers ample cushioning for the hips and shoulders. Heavier back and stomach sleepers, on the other hand, may find the firmer, thicker settings are more comfortable and supportive. The Saatva HD, which is ‘Firm’ and has a 15 1/2 inch profile, is most suitable for back and stomach sleepers who weigh at least 230 pounds.
WinkBed and WinkBed Plus
Like the flagship Saatva, the WinkBed is available in ‘Medium Soft,’ ‘Medium Firm,’ and ‘Firm’ settings. The ‘Medium Soft’ setting may be the best option for side sleepers and others who are lighter than average, while heavier back and stomach sleepers will probably prefer the firmer settings.
Lighter people who struggle getting on and off thicker beds may find the WinkBed’s profile is too tall. The WinkBed Plus is primarily geared toward back and stomach sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds, as well as side sleepers who weigh at least 230 pounds.

How Are the Saatva and Saatva HD Built?
The flagship Saatva mattress was one of the first beds to popularize the coil-on-coil design. It features a foam-padded Euro-top cover, followed by comfort layers of polyfoam, memory foam, and pocketed coils. The support core is constructed with recycled-steel bonnell coils, which reinforce the bed very well and help prevent sagging. Temperature neutrality is another key strength of the standard Saatva. Air circulates freely through both coil layers, which helps regulate surface temperatures and keeps sleepers cool. Most couples find the Saatva is responsive enough for sex, as well.
Though it is not a coil-on-coil bed, the Saatva HD shares many of the same strengths as the standard Saatva. One notable advantage is the zoned latex comfort layer, which provides more reinforcement to the sleeper’s heavier areas (such as the shoulders and midsection). This distributes weight evenly and helps align the spine, potentially leading to fewer aches and pains. Compared to other innersprings, both the standard Saatva and Saatva HD are fairly quiet too.
How Are the WinkBed and WinkBed Plus Built?
The WinkBed, like the original Saatva, is a coil-on-coil mattress. It has comfort layers of polyfoam and gel polyfoam, along with additional layers of pocketed microcoils and a compressed-cotton lumbar pad to help alleviate lower back pains. The WinkBed provides a good balance of cushioning and support, resulting in fewer aches and pressure points for most sleepers. The bed also offers excellent reinforcement to minimize sagging and sinkage along the edges, thanks to its 7 1/2 inch pocketed coil support core encased in high-density foam.
The WinkBed Plus is fairly similar to the Saatva HD. Both beds have polyfoam and latex comfort layers, which provide targeted support and good cushioning for heavier individuals. The support core components are one key difference; the WinkBed Plus has pocketed coils, which are quieter than other coil types. The coils are reinforced with a high-density foam encasement for added support and durability. Both the WinkBed and WinkBed Plus provide very good temperature neutrality and also isolate more motion transfer than the average innerspring or hybrid.

Sagging or indentations in the sleep surface that do not measure one inch (1″) or deeper.
Burns, cuts, stains, and other types of physical damage that occur due to misuse, improper cleaning, or inadequate support.

Each customer and/or household is entitled to one sleep trial.
Warranty
WinkBeds offers a lifetime warranty for all versions of the WinkBed, including the WinkBed Plus:
This warranty is completely non-prorated.
In addition to the warranty, WinkBeds offers the ‘Any Reason’ option. Under this agreement, owners may exchange their mattress for a bed with a different firmness level at a 50% discount after the sleep trial has ended.
This warranty is limited to one mattress replacement.
The warranty will cover the following defects:
Visible sagging or indentations in the sleep surface measuring one and a half inches (1 1/2″) or deeper.
Physical flaws in the mattress that cause foams and other materials to split or crack despite proper use and handling.
The warranty will not cover the following:
Visible sagging or indentations in the sleep surface that do not measure one and a half inches (1 1/2″) or deeper, or normal increases in mattress softness that do not compromise the bed’s pressure-relieving abilities. These issues are considered standard wear and tear.
Burns, cuts, tears, stains, and other types of physical damage that occur due to abuse, misuse, neglect, or improper foundational support.
This warranty is non-transferable, and is reserved for original owners who purchase their mattress from WinkBeds or an authorized retailer. Those who buy or acquire their mattress from the original owner or a non-authorized retailer do not qualify for warranty coverage.
