Quick Overview

Layla Sleep made a splash in sleep industry with their signature mattress, a double-sided memory foam mattress infused with copper, a naturally antibacterial material with a variety of intriguing purported benefits. Beyond the Layla mattress, the company manufactures a copper-infused memory foam pillow with natural Kapok tree fiber fill in addition to a mattress topper, bed frame, and bamboo sheets.

Among the newest addition to the Layla Sleep collection is the Layla Weighted Blanket, a unique blanket designed with what the company calls “Deep Touch Pressure” (DTP)—which simulates the feeling of a hug.

Like other weighted blankets on the market, the Layla Weighted Blanket can help reduce restlessness and anxiety while promoting the release of serotonin levels in the body. The two-sided blanket is filled with high-density micro glass beads sewn between pockets of polyfill batting to ensure minimal noise and an even distribution throughout the blanket. On the bottom of the Layla Weighted Blanket is a 300 thread-count, pure cotton layer sewn in Layla’s eye-catching, signature hexagon pattern. On top is a layer of furry polyester mink fabric.

The Layla Weighted Blanket comes in a choice of three sizes and three weights, including twin (15 lbs), queen (20 lbs), and king (25 lbs). The blanket is available in one color: dark grey.

What Testers Say

To summarize, our editors found the Layla Weighted Blanket to be a solid option for those seeking a heavy blanket that is versatile and suitable to sleepers of different preferences.  The cotton side is ideal for warmer weather, as well as those who want a smoother, more traditional blanket feel The reverse side is ideal for cool nights and those who prefer a plush, fleece feel. Standout features include its dual-sided shell and machine wash/dry friendliness.

One issue we had with the Layla Weighted Blanket was its lack of weight options. And though the cotton side is designed for breathability, the blanket’s insulating qualities may not be suitable for those who tend to sleep hot.

What You Need to Know About the Layla Weighted Blanket

Below, we’ve summarized the key specs to consider before purchasing a Layla Weighted Blanket.

Product Name Inner Fill Material Outer Shell Material Weight Options Available Colors/Patterns Available

Construction

Here, we’ll go into further detail on the construction of the Layla Weighted Blanket. As noted, the fill is made from tiny, high-density micro glass beads. These are sewn between polyfill batting or “wadding”, a material commonly found in quilts that adds warmth and weight. In the case of the Layla blanket, the batting serves to keep the blanket both soft and silent. Layla’s trademark hexagon stitching works to keep the glass beads distributed across the blanket.

Encasing the beads and batting is a dual-sided shell. The bottom layer is crafted from pure, 300 thread-count cotton sewn in Layla-style hexagon pockets. On the top side of the Layla Weighted Blanket is a furry, mink-like fabric that adds a luxurious, cozy feel to the blanket.
