Layla Mattress Sleep Ratings

CategoryCriteriaLayla Mattress RatingWhat Layla Users Say
Customer SatisfactionBased on data collection, this is an overall customer sentiment regarding the Layla Mattress.75%The Layla Mattress has earned a customer satisfaction rating of 75%, which is slightly higher than the average rating for all memory foam models.
Durability Memory foam is engineered to provide a comfortable, conforming sleep surface that retains its original shape over time, but indentations are to be expected.FairDurability appears to be on par with other memory foam mattress models, but Layla Sleep has been in business for roughly three years and the lifespan beyond that has not yet been assessed.
Motion IsolationMemory foam mattresses are designed to absorb and isolate motion transfer when someone gets out of bed or shifts their position.Very GoodThe Layla Mattress isolates motion to a significant extent, say owners, and many report fewer nighttime sleep disruptions as a result.
Sex Many memory foam users report that these mattresses are not very conducive for sex due to the lack of responsiveness and minimal bounce.FairLike most memory foam models, the Layla Mattress is not particularly bouncy, and may not be responsive enough for some couples.
ConformingMemory foam mattresses are engineered to conform to the sleeper’s figure, creating a cradle-shaped impression that aligns the spine and targets pressure points.Very GoodThe Layla Mattress conforms closely for added pain and pressure relief, and the copper-infused foam can also improve circulation in sleepers.
Temperature NeutralityMemory foam retains more body heat than other mattress materials, and users often ‘sleep hot’ as a result.FairThe Layla Mattress can be a heat trap, owners claim, and some say it sleeps uncomfortably hot or warm.
Off-gassingSome mattresses emit particles when they are unpackaged, accompanied by unpleasant ‘off-gassing’ smells that can last for days.FairLayla Mattresses emit some off-gassing, but no more or less than the average memory foam model.
Edge SupportBecause of their construction, memory foam mattresses typically feature little to no edge support.PoorEdge support is a common complaint among Layla owners, with many reporting sinkage around the perimeter of the bed where people tend to sit.
NoiseMemory foam mattresses create little to no noise, due to their lack of springs, coils, and other metal componentsExcellentThe Layla Mattress is virtually silent when bearing weight.
Ease of Moving and RotatingAll mattresses are relatively heavy, but memory foam models tend to be lighter than average, which makes them easier to move. GoodWeight for the Layla Mattress range from 50 to 90 pounds (depending on size), which is on par with other memory foam models.

Sleep Trial and Warranty Information

Trial Period and Guarantee: Layla offers a 120-night sleep trial for all mattress owners.

  1. The sleep trial begins on the date of purchase. There is a mandatory two-week break-in period. Owners may not return their mattress for a full refund until they have tested out the mattress for at least two weeks.
  2. Mattress purchasers in the lower 48 states are eligible for a full product refund with no extra fees if they return their mattress within 120 nights. Customers in Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada will receive a product refund, but their extra shipping charges are non-refundable.
  3. Because Layla does not restock mattresses, customers do not need to physically return their mattress to the company’s headquarters. In these cases, Layla requests owners to donate their mattress to a local charity organization.
  4. To initiate the return process, customers should email Layla’s customer service department.

Warranty: Layla offers a lifetime warranty for all mattresses.

  1. Layla will, at the company’s sole option, repair or replace any mattress that is deemed defective or as long as the original owners uses the mattress. This warranty is entirely nonprorated.
  2. Layla may opt to repair or replace individual components with defects (such as the cover), rather than replacing the entire mattress.
  3. Warranty coverage depends on the use of proper foundational support. Per Layla: ‘Proper use is defined as using the mattress on a firm, rigid and smooth surface that allows air ventilation and supports the entire mattress, including the center, such as a slatted bed platform or box spring.’
  4. Layla warns that pinching the foam while flipping the mattress may result in tearing, which is not covered under the warranty.
  5. Mattress owners may need to pay up to $50 in shipping and handling fees for mattress repairs or replacements; variable fees will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
  6. The warranty will cover the following defects:
    • Visible sagging or indentations in the sleep surface measuring one inch (1″) or deeper that do not directly result from owner misuse or improper foundational support.
    • Defects related to the cover, such as seams coming apart.
  7. The warranty will not cover the following:
    • Visible sagging or indentations in the sleep surface that do not measure one inch (1″) or deeper. This is considered normal wear and tear.
    • Repair or replacement requests that occur due to changes in the owner’s personal sleep preferences, such as mattress height, firmness or bed weight.
    • Burns, cuts, tears, stains, and other types of physical damage that occur due to owner misuse, improper cleaning, and/or inadequate foundational support.
    • Discrepancies in mattress height with a margin of error of one inch (1″).
    • The appearance of mold or vermin infestation.
  8. According to Layla, the following actions will void the warranty:
    • Allowing the mattress to remain in its original packaging for longer than two weeks.
    • Using a metal frame, boxspring, or foundation that does not provide adequate center support.
    • Using the Layla mattress in a commercial facility, such as a hotel, college dorm, or rental property (including Airbnb).
  9. This warranty is exclusively offered to original owners who purchase their mattress from Layla or an authorized retailer. Those who buy or acquire their mattress from the original owner or a non-authorized retailer will not be entitled to warranty coverage.
