The Nectar is a traditional memory foam mattress, while the Layla is flippable and copper-infused.
Both offer good contouring and a temperature-regulated sleep.
The Layla is best for back sleepers while the Nectar has great support for sleepers over 230 lbs.
Nectar vs. Layla Mattress Overview
Nectar vs. Layla Mattress Overview
Founded in 2016, Nectar Sleep sells the well-reviewed flagship Nectar Mattress. The Nectar features three individual foam layers for excellent contouring, pressure relief, and motion isolation. These include a 3-inch comfort layer of gel-infused memory foam, a 2-inch polyfoam transitional layer, and a 7-inch support core of high-density polyfoam.
Its medium firm feel (6 out of 10 on the firmness scale) appeals to a wide variety of sleepers, particularly side and back sleepers. Above-average motion isolation and no noise also make the Nectar a good fit for couples.
Layla was launched in 2015 and sells one mattress, their flagship Layla Mattress. This flippable memory foam model features a different firmness level on each side: the first is a medium-soft (4 out of 10) option, while the second is a firmer 7 out of 10. This makes the Layla more versatile than mattresses with only one firmness option, allowing you to sleep only on one side or flip your mattress as needed.
We have found that back sleepers are the most enthusiastic about the Layla, and it garnered scores of “very good” from back-sleepers under 230 lbs. and “good” from those above 230 lbs. Side-sleepers below 230 lbs. also enjoyed the Layla, while it was appropriate only for stomach-sleepers below 130 lbs. The Layla has a polyfoam support core, as well as three comfort layers (one on the firm side, two on the soft side).
Despite both being memory foam mattresses, the Nectar and Layla differ in a number of key ways. By understanding these differences, it will be easier to pick which one is right for you.

Edge Support
x
The degree to which the perimeter of the mattress supports body weight. In some cases, mattresses may sink when weight is applied. This sinkage, often called “roll-off”, affects how closely you might sleep to the edge of the bed.
The Nectar mattress offers better edge support than most all-foam mattresses at this price range due to its dense foam layers, though some owners have reported sinkage after less than one year of use.

Sleep Position Ratings
The Nectar Mattress
The Nectar Mattress scores a relatively neutral 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale, making it appealing to many types of sleeper and a wide range of weights. In fact, we found that the Nectar is one of the most supportive memory foam mattresses for people above 230 lbs.
Back-sleepers in particular will enjoy Nectar’s balance of comfort and support, but the mattress was rated “good” or higher by all categories except stomach-sleepers below 130 lbs., for whom it was too firm. Because of this, we think the Nectar makes a good choice for couples: even if you have different sleep styles, you’re likely to both find this mattress comfortable.
The Layla Mattress
On account of its flippable nature, the Layla Mattress has both strengths and weaknesses. Overall, people who sleep on their back found this mattress the most comfortable, earning it a “very good” rating from back-sleepers below 230 lbs. and a “good” rating from those over 230 lbs.
Side-sleepers also enjoyed the Layla, particularly those between 130 and 230 lbs., though those above 230 lbs. found it missed the mark between too soft and too firm. Similarly, stomach-sleepers above 130 lbs. also reported that the mattress was not ideal for them. If the Layla suits your sleep type, it can also help relieve pain (particularly joint and pressure point) through the contouring of its copper-infused foam.

How Is the Nectar Mattress Built?
The Nectar Mattress has a 7-inch high-density polyfoam support core, forming the bulk of the mattress and providing a comfortable medium firm sleep surface. In order to achieve the joint-cradling contouring which makes memory foam so popular, Nectar follows this with two other layers: a 3-inch comfort layer of gel-infused memory foam and 2-inch transitional layer of polyfoam.
One of the things our reviewers appreciated about the Nectar Mattress is its use of high-quality materials which are CertiPUR-US®-Certified to be free of carcinogens and toxins. These materials, in addition to the Nectar’s good build quality, give it an estimated lifespan of 6-7 years.
In addition to its durability, the Nectar is nearly silent and features good motion isolation and edge support, though there are some reviewers who found that the edge support can degrade with time.
How Is the Layla Mattress Built?
The Layla Mattress uses three types of foam, all of which are CertiPUR-US®-Certified as carcinogen and toxin-free. It has a 4.5-inch support core of polyfoam, offering springy resilience to both sides regardless of firmness.
On the medium-soft side, this is next to a 2-inch comfort layer of airy convoluted foam for superior airflow and a deep contour. On both sides, the top layer is copper-infused high-density memory foam: 3 inches on the medium-soft side, 1 inch on the firm side. The copper infusion is a luxury touch with several benefits, including temperature regulation, variable support for pressure point and joint relief, and antimicrobial properties.
The Layla’s excellent temperature regulation makes it very attractive to those who find other soft memory foam mattresses to be too warm. The way memory foam contours to the body has a tendency to trap heat, so the convoluted foam layer and copper infusion both allow for more temperature neutrality.

Trial Period Details
Nectar offers a 365-night sleep trial for the Nectar Mattress.
There are two stages to Nectar’s sleep trial. To begin with, there is a mandatory 30-day “breaking in” period, during which no returns can be made. (This is to allow the mattress to regain its normal shape, as well as giving you the chance to become accustomed to it.) Once the 30-day period is over, your 365-night trial begins in earnest.
Nectar suggests customers take advantage of the full trial period, but returns can be made at any point during this time. If you choose to return the mattress, Nectar offers a full refund (minus white glove delivery charges) and will handle mattress collection themselves. Where possible, they work with local services to recycle or donate your mattress.
Warranty
Nectar offers a lifetime warranty.
What Nectar calls their “Forever Warranty” is a lifetime, non-prorated warranty which covers an industry-standard list of problems and concerns. Impressions deeper than 1.5″ are covered, as are manufacturing defects or flaws in the foam itself (such as cracks or sagging) and the integrated cover (such as unraveling threads).
Your warranty cannot be transferred, and it is made void if you do not support your mattress correctly. It does not cover damage, normal wear-and-tear, sagging or impressions less than 1.5″, misuse, or changes in your preferences. For the first ten years there are no shipping fees, but after this period the company will charge two $50 shipping fees unless they determine that the problem is due to a manufacturing defect.

Trial Period
Layla offers a 120-night sleep trial for the Layla Mattress.
When deciding on a new mattress, it’s important to ensure it is comfortable over longer periods. Layla offers customers 120 nights to decide whether or not they are happy with their purchase, though this includes a mandatory 14 day “break in” period to allow your mattress to return to its original shape.
Once this period is over, you may return your mattress at any point until the end of the sleep trial. Layla refunds all mattress costs, but not delivery fees. However, they do not charge to pick up your returned mattress and will help you donate or dispose of the used mattress.
Warranty
Layla offers a lifetime warranty
The Layla Mattress has very good durability and we estimate it to have a lifespan of 6-8 years with normal use. Layla also stands behind their product with a non-transferable lifetime warranty, covering both flaws in the cover as well as foam impressions and sagging deeper than 1 inch. Depending on the nature of the defect, the company may choose to repair rather than replace your mattress. In some cases there may also be a $50 shipping charge for this service.
It is also important to note that incorrect support for your mattress will void your warranty, as will improperly flipping your mattress, leaving it in its original packaging for longer than two weeks, or using it in a commercial facility (including Airbnb).
