Casper vs. Loom & Leaf Mattress Comparison

Introduction

Casper was founded in 2013. Their flagship mattress, the Casper, features a mixed memory foam and polyfoam comfort system, and a high-density polyfoam support core.

Loof & Leam was founded in 2015; its parent company, Saatva, has been in business since 2010. Loof & Leam’s flagship mattress is designed with layers of gel memory foam and standard memory foam in the comfort system; the support core contains two layers of polyfoam. This mattress is available in ‘Medium’ and ‘Firm’ ratings.

Please note that Casper also sells the Casper Wave, a mattress constructed with layers of polyfoam, memory foam, and latex in the comfort system. Because this model is relatively new, it is not included in our product comparison; only the flagship mattresses of both companies will be discussed.

The Casper and the Loom & Leaf mattresses have earned average customer ratings on Tuck.com, but each one carries unique benefits and drawbacks. This page will compare both models regarding size, construction, and price, as well as the delivery policies, warranties, and general reputations of both companies.

Mattress Performance Comparison

The next table compares Casper and Loom & Leaf in terms of durability, pressure relief, motion isolation, and other performance metrics. All Tuck.com ratings are generated based on individual customer experiences.

Category Criteria Casper Rating Loom & Leaf Rating What Users Say
Customer Satisfaction Based on data collection, this is an overall customer sentiment regarding Casper and Loom & Leaf mattresses. 72% 71% One percentage point separates the customer satisfaction ratings of these two brands, with Casper taking a slight edge; comparatively, the average foam mattress earns a rating of 72.5%.
Durability The average mattress will perform for at least seven years before it needs to be replaced Good Good Both the Casper and Loom & Leaf mattresses generally perform for at least six years, which is on par with industry averages.
Motion Isolation Foam-based mattresses are designed to minimize motion and isolate it from other areas of the sleep surface, which can cut down on nighttime disruptions. Fair Excellent The Casper does not isolate as much motion as most of its memory foam counterparts — including Loom & Leaf, which customers have praised for significant motion isolation.
Sex Foam-based mattresses are less responsive by design, and may not be as suitable for sex as innerspring or hybrid models. Fair Fair As is usually the case with foam mattresses, the Casper and Loom & Leaf models are not very responsive and, as a result, not as good for sex as bouncier beds.
Conforming Foam-based mattresses conform closely to sleeper’s bodies, which can help align the spine, target pressure points, and alleviate back pain Good Very Good Loom & Leaf conforms closer and relieves more pressure compared to the Casper, but our reports indicate that both mattresses offer above-average conforming.
Temperature Neutrality Foam retains more body heat than other materials, and foam mattress owners often ‘sleep hot’ as a result. Fair Fair The Casper and Loom & Leaf share a common complaint: high body heat retention, which usually leads to sleeping hot.
Off-gassing Some mattresses emit particles when they are unpackaged, accompanied by unpleasant ‘off-gassing’ smells that can last for days. Fair Fair Off-gassing smells have been reported by Casper and Loom & Leaf owners, but these odors typically dissipate within a day or two.
Edge Support Because of their construction, foam-based mattresses often provide little to no edge support and may sink prematurely in areas of the bed where people tend to sit. Fair Poor The Casper offers sturdier edge support than most other foam mattresses, including Loom & Leaf, which offers little to no edge support.
Noise Foam-based mattresses create little to no noise, due to their lack of springs, coils, and other metal components Excellent Very Good Unlike most memory foam mattresses, the Loom & Leaf has been known to produce minor noises. By comparison, the Casper is virtually silent.
Ease of Moving and Rotating All mattresses are relatively heavy when it comes to moving and rotating, but some are heavier and more unwieldy than others.   Very Good Good Casper mattresses are roughly 10 pounds lighter than Loom & Leaf models.

Mattress comfort often depends on weight and sleeping position. The next table compares the Casper and Loom & Leaf mattresses based on different sleeper preferences.
