Sleep EZ Mattress Review

Written by Tuck Staff

Sleep EZ Mattress Review

The Bottom Line.

  • Select Sleep EZ mattresses have natural latex layers that can be rearranged to make the bed feel firmer or softer.
  • Aerated latex layers are exceptionally durable and breathable.
  • The Roma Latex Mattress is a flippable, 9″ bed offering a ‘Medium’ feel on one side and a ‘Firm’ feel on the other.

Quick Summary

Quick Summary

Sleep EZ – a mattress brand that has been in business since 1976 – offers latex mattresses. The following models are currently available.

  • The Select Sleep Organic mattress is a fully customizable latex mattress. The bed is constructed with three layers of aerated Dunlop or Talalay latex, each of which is available in one of four firmness settings: ‘Soft’ (3 on the 1-10 firmness scale), ‘Medium’ (5), ‘Firm’ (7), and ‘Extra Firm’ (8.5). Owners can select the same firmness setting for all three layers; alternatively, they may select different settings for each layer and change the firmness by reconfiguring the order of these three layers. The mattress is also available in 7″, 9″, 10″, and 13″ profiles; Queen, King, and California King beds are also available as single-firmness or dual-firmness models. The cover is made from a blend of organic-cotton and natural wool.
  • The Select Sleep Lifetime Dreams shares a similar construction with the Select Sleep Organic. The top comfort layer is made of blended Talalay latex, while other layers are made of natural Dunlop latex; because natural Talalay latex is not an option, this mattress has a lower price-point than the Select Sleep Organic. However, it offers the same customization levels; these include four firmness options for each layer – ‘Soft’ (3), ‘Medium’ (5), ‘Firm’ (7), and ‘Extra Firm’ (8.5) – and 7″, 9″, 10″, and 13″ profiles, as well as optional dual-firmness for larger sizes.
  • The Roma Latex Mattress is a flippable model with a 9″ profile. One side has ‘Medium’ (5) firmness, while the other is considered ‘Firm’ (7). Each side features 3″ of natural Dunlop latex, along with a 1 1/2″ quilted organic-cotton cover.

Sleep EZ offers free latex pillows with each mattress purchase. Twin-size mattress orders qualify for one free pillow; all other sizes qualify for two free pillows.

Sleep EZ also offers the Ultimate King Latex Mattress, an all-latex bed that measures 84″ wide and 96″ long, making it much larger than a standard California King. We have not received enough customer or owner data about this model to generate ratings in our review. We will update this page once we have sufficient feedback.

Additionally, Sleep EZ appears to have discontinued the Luxerion Natural Latex Hybrid. However, this mattress may still be available for sale through third-party retailers and sellers.

Sleep EZ mattresses are optimal for sleepers whose firmness preferences tend to fluctuate night-to-night. The Select Sleep models allow owners to easily reconfigure the latex layers and adjust the firmness to their liking, while the flippable Roma is ideal for people whose preferences range from ‘Medium’ to ‘Firm.’

The beds also have aerated latex layers and breathable covers that help cool off the mattress, which can be beneficial to those who naturally sleep hot. And because Sleep EZ mattresses mostly contain latex, they are considered very durable; the expected lifespan is at least seven and a half years. Other benefits include very good motion isolation and no noise when bearing weight.

Sleep EZ offers free mattress shipping anywhere in the contiguous U.S. The mattresses are backed by a 90-night sleep trial, which includes layer swaps for the Select Sleep models; they are also backed by warranties ranging from 10 to 20 years, depending on the model. Sleep EZ mattresses have price-points that are average to below-average compared to competing latex models.

Read on to learn more about Sleep EZ mattresses in terms of construction, pricing, and performance. We’ll also provide an overview of the company’s shipping, return, and warranty policies, as well as some similar mattress recommendations.

What Type of Sleeper is Best Suited to a Sleep EZ Mattress?

Based on our customer feedback, Sleep EZ mattresses received the following grades among sleepers of different weights and preferred sleep positions.

Please note that these ratings are subjective, and that everyone has varying experiences on different mattresses. Sleeper comfort and spinal support are the most important factors when it comes to selecting a mattress.

For more information on sleeping positions please see our guides for side, back, stomach and combination sleepers.

The Select Sleep Organic and Lifetime Dreams mattresses are available in four different firmness settings for each latex layer, as well as dual-firmness designs and four thickness profile options. As a result, these beds are a good option for most sleepers regardless of their weight, body type, or firmness or position preferences.

The Roma Latex Mattress is a bit more limiting; with one ‘Medium’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, it is considered optimal for any back or stomach sleeper who weighs at least 130 pounds.

Sleep EZ Mattress Recommendations

  • Your budget allows you to purchase a latex mattress at an average to slightly below-average price-point.
  • You tend to sleep hot.
  • You and/or your sleep partner awaken easily due to movement or noise.
  • You would like to buy an eco-friendly bed.

Compare Mattresses

How Do Sleep EZ Mattresses Compare to Other Beds?

As any consumer does with a product they’re considering, our mattress assessments naturally involve comparing them with other similar products. Be it composition, firmness, or price, we think it’s important to see how Sleep EZ mattresses stack up to other beds.

One key strength of Sleep EZ mattresses is customization. This is particularly true for the Select Sleep Organic and Lifetime Dreams models, which offer four different firmness settings – as well as dual-firmness for larger sizes – and four additional profile options.

The Roma Latex Mattress is also suitable for sleepers with shifting firmness preferences, since it is a flippable bed with two different surfaces.

Sleep EZ mattresses also have longer-than-average product lifespans, which is typical of all-latex beds. They isolate a fair amount of motion transfer and produce no noise when bearing weight.

    1. The 10-year warranty is completely nonprorated.
    2. The 20-year warranty is partially prorated. During years 1-10, Sleep EZ will repair or replace any defective mattress at no extra charge to the owner, minus shipping and transportation costs. Beginning in year 11, prorated coverage will kick in; owners seeking a mattress replacement must pay 55% of the original product price during the 11th year of ownership, and this rate will increase 5% for each successive year (60% in year 12, 65% in year 13, etc.)
    3. For all Sleep EZ warranties, coverage is contingent on proper foundational support. Per the company: “Any foundation with slats 3 inches or less apart, or adjustable base will work well for your latex mattress. Spring foundations or foundations with slats wider than 3 inches apart will void the manufacturer warranty, as they can damage the latex mattress.
    4. Mattress covers are backed by a separate, one-year warranty.
    5. The warranty will not cover the following:
      • Air voids or cracks or tears measuring less than three inches (3″).
      • Burns, stains, mold, and other types of physical damage that occur due to owner misuse.
    6. This warranty is non-transferable. It is exclusively available to original owners who purchase their mattress from Sleep EZ or an authorized retailer. Those who buy or acquire their mattress from the original owner or a non-authorized retailer do not receive warranty coverage.
