Pros:

  • More than two dozen innerspring and memory foam mattresses are available from Signature Sleep to accommodate a wide range of sleeper preferences.
  • Signature Sleep innerspring owners note their mattresses have strong edge support and sleep relatively cool; memory foam owners claim their beds isolate motion and produce virtually no noise.
  • Signature Sleep mattresses are available from a large number of third-party sellers, including Target, Wal-Mart, and Amazon.com.
  • The price-points of innerspring and memory foam mattresses from Signature Sleep are all significantly below-average compared to similar models.

Cons:

  • Chief complaints about Signature Sleep mattresses include below-average durability and poor motion isolation for innersprings, and weak edge support and high amounts of off-gassing for memory foam models.
  • Signature Sleep offers a one-year warranty on all mattresses; by comparison, most mattress manufacturers offer warranty coverage for at least 10 years.
  • Signature Sleep does not disclose pricing information about any mattresses, and does not provide certain specs (such as foam density, cover composition, or layer thicknesses) for select models. This can make shopping online somewhat difficult.

Product and Price Range: Signature Sleep mattresses are available in four sizes: Twin, Full, Queen, and King. Prices vary by selected model and size. Signature Sleep mattresses are manufactured in China.

Sleep Trial and Warranty Information

Trial Period and Guarantee: Signature Sleep mattresses are exclusively available through third-party retailers. For this reason, customers should defer to the sleep trial and return policy of the brick-and-mortar location where they purchase their mattress.

Warranty: Signature Sleep offers a 1-year warranty for all mattresses.

  1. Warranty coverage begins on the date of original purchase. Signature Sleep will, at their sole discretion, repair or replace mattresses that are deemed defective for as long as the warranty is valid. Mattress owners will be responsible for all transportation and handling charges associated with mattress repairs or replacements.
  2. If a mattress has been discontinued or is not currently available to replace a defective mattress, Signature Sleep reserves the right to provide a comparable substitute as the replacement.
  3. Replacing the mattress will not extend the original warranty, nor will this result in the creation of a new warranty.
  4. The warranty will cover the following mattress defects:
    • Visible indentations or sagging in the sleep surface that measure one and a half inches (1 1/2″) or deeper and are not the result of owner abuse and/or improper foundational support.
    • Metal wires that are ‘broken, loose, or protruding through the fabric’.
  5. The warranty will not cover the following:
    • Normal increases in foam softness that do not affect its pressure-relieving abilities, or visible indentations or sagging in the sleep surface that do not measure one and a half inches (1 1/2″) or deeper. These issues are considered standard wear and tear.
    • Repair or replacement requests that occur due to changes in the owner’s comfort preferences.
    • Burns, cuts, tears, stains, and other types of physical damage that occur due to owner misuse, improper cleaning, and/or inadequate foundational support.
  6. This warranty is exclusively extended to original owners who purchase their mattress directly from an authorized Signature Sleep retailer. Those who buy or acquire their mattress from the original owner or a non-authorized retailer will not be entitled to warranty coverage.

Signature Sleep Mattress Sleep Ratings

Please note that we have not received customer data for 10-inch or 12-inch innerspring mattresses from Signature Sleep. All other foam and innerspring mattresses are represented in the table below.

CategoryCriteriaFoam Mattress RatingInnerspring RatingWhat Signature Sleep Users Say
Customer SatisfactionBased on data collection, this is an overall customer sentiment regarding Signature Sleep mattress.6969Both innersprings and foam mattresses from Signature Sleep earned the same score of 69, which is above-average for innersprings and below-average for foam-based models.
Durability The average mattress will perform for approximately seven years before it needs to be replaced.FairPoorSignature Sleep innerspring owners report that their mattresses usually last four to five years. Foam models have slightly longer lifespans, but still fall short of the seven-year average.
Motion IsolationInnerspring mattresses that are overly responsive will create excessive motion when someone gets up or shifts positions in bed. Memory foam models are usually better at isolating motion, which can cut down on nighttime disruptions.Very GoodPoorInnersprings from Signature Sleep offer little to no motion isolation, according to our feedback; in contrast, memory foam models isolate motion to a significant extent.
Sex Bouncier, more responsive beds (such as innersprings) tend to be more enjoyable for sex than foam-based mattress models.FairVery GoodSignature Sleep innerspring owners claim their mattresses are responsive enough for sex, but those with a memory foam model report little responsiveness.
ConformingMattresses with foam comfort layers tend to conform closely to the sleeper’s body and alleviate bodily pressure. Innersprings conform less, resulting in lower amounts of pressure relief.GoodFairMemory foam mattresses from Signature Sleep conform to sleeper’s bodies and alleviate some pressure, but not to a greater degree than similar models; innersprings from the company conform somewhat, but back pain and pressure is still reported.
Temperature NeutralityInnerspring mattresses tend to retain less body heat than other mattress types, and will ‘sleep cooler’ as a result. By comparison, foam beds tend to sleep hotter.FairGoodInnersprings from Signature Sleep retain minimal body heat and sleep relatively cool; memory foam models sleep fairly warm by comparison.
Off-gassingSome mattresses emit particles when they are unpackaged, accompanied by unpleasant ‘off-gassing’ smells that can last for days.PoorGoodOff-gassing is one of the main complaints among Signature Sleep memory foam mattress owners; innerspring models produce some odor, but not nearly as much as their foam-based counterparts.
Edge SupportThe frames of innerspring mattresses are encased to support the springs and provide a suitable sleeping surface. Foam mattresses, on the other hand, typically have poor edge support, and may sink where people usually sit.PoorGoodOur customer feedback indicates that innersprings from Signature Sleep offer decent edge support, particularly thicker models; in contrast, memory foam mattresses have weak edge support and some premature sinking has been reported.
NoiseInnerspring mattresses tend to be somewhat noisy due to their high levels of bounciness and responsiveness, as well as squeaky metal components; most foam mattresses produce little to no noise.ExcellentGoodMemory foam mattresses from Signature Sleep are virtually silent; innerspring models produce some noise, but are relatively quiet compared to similar coil-based mattresses.
Ease of Moving and RotatingMost innerspring mattresses are relatively heavy, but some can be more unwieldy than others. Foam mattresses tend to be lighter by comparison.GoodGoodInnersprings from Signature Sleep are heavier than the company’s memory foam models, but none of the mattresses are particularly heavy compared to other models with similar designs.
