Nectar vs. Tempur-Pedic Mattress Overview

Nectar Sleep was established in 2016. The brand’s flagship bed is the Nectar Mattress, which features three memory foam comfort layers – including two gel-infused layers – and a support core made from high-density polyfoam. The Nectar Mattress measures 11 inches thick. In terms of firmness it is considered ‘Medium Firm,’ or a 6.5 on the 1-10 firmness scale.

Tempur-Pedic first launched in 1992 and merged with the Sealy Corporation in 2012. Currently, the brand’s best-selling mattress model is the TEMPUR-Adapt, which is available as a memory foam bed with a high-density polyfoam support core or a memory foam hybrid with a pocketed coil support core. Both versions of the mattress measure 11 inches thick and are considered ‘Medium,’ or a 5 on the 1-10 firmness scale.

Please note: In addition to the TEMPUR-Adapt, Tempur-Pedic offers the TEMPUR-ProAdapt, TEMPUR-LuxeAdapt, and TEMPUR-breeze° mattresses. This comparison guide will exclusively look at the TEMPUR-Adapt mattress. For more information about other Tempur-Pedic models, please visit our Tempur-Pedic Mattress Reviews page.

The Nectar Mattress and TEMPUR-Adapt share some similarities in terms of construction and performance, but they also differ in several key ways. This guide will look at differences and similarities between the two beds, as well as the shipping, return, and warranty policies of each brand.

Sleep Position Ratings

The Nectar Mattress

Because it is ‘Medium Firm,’ the Nectar Mattress is best suited for sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds; lighter individuals – particularly side sleepers – are likely to find the mattress too firm, which can minimize the pain and pressure relief they experience night after night. The mattress also has an 11-inch profile, making it slightly thicker and average. This can also be beneficial for heavier people.

The Tempur-Adapt Mattress

The TEMPUR-Adapt has a ‘Medium’ feel and conforms somewhat closely. This makes it ideal for side sleepers who weigh 230 pounds or less, since those who use this position often need more conforming for proper spinal alignment. Most back and stomach sleepers in this weight group will also find the mattress comfortable, but those who weigh more than 230 pounds are likely to find it too soft and prone to sagging. The TEMPUR-Adapt is also 11 inches thick, making it suitable for those who prefer beds with slightly thicker-than-average profiles.

How Is the Nectar Mattress Built?

The Nectar Mattress is built with a top comfort layer of quilted memory foam and a second layer of gel-infused memory foam. This 4-inch comfort system offers exceptional cushioning for side sleepers, while the ‘Medium Firm’ feel is suitable for most back and stomach sleepers.

The bed’s 7-inch support core is made from high-density memory foam and polyfoam, which reinforces the sleep surface to cut down on sagging and indentations. Other benefits of the mattress include great motion isolation, no noise when bearing weight, and cooler-than-average temperatures due in part to the gel-infused layer. At 74 pounds, it is also very lightweight and easy to move.

How Is the Tempur-Adapt Mattress Built?

The TEMPUR-Adapt comes in all-foam and hybrid versions. Both have memory foam comfort layers offering a ‘Medium’ (5) feel and dual-layer SmartClimate covers, which allow the beds to sleep noticeably cool. The all-foam design has a support core made of high-density polyfoam; the hybrid design has pocketed coils encased in high-density foam. Both support systems help the mattress withstand early sagging, which can prolong their overall product lifespans.

Tempur-Pedic foams are considered highly durable compared to the materials found in competing beds. For this reason, the TEMPUR-Adapt has an exceptionally long expected lifespan. The all-foam TEMPUR-Adapt provides excellent motion isolation and conforms closely to alleviate aches and pains throughout the sleeper’s body. The hybrid design also reduces discomfort. It also offers great edge support and sleeps very cool due to strong airflow through the coil layer.
