Even amid the online shopping boom, Seattle continues to offer plenty of brick-and-mortar mattress shops for residents who prefer to make mattress purchases in person. For Seattle sleepers hoping to consult with staffers and test out mattresses before buying, the Emerald City offers a number of excellent, reputable stores. In addition to conventional, brick-and-mortar shops, there are a growing number of showrooms and department stores that sell beds from top online brands like Nest, Casper, and Tuft & Needle.

For decades, the mattress industry was notorious for massive markups and pushy sales people. Determined to redeem the mattress seller name, direct-to-consumer brands came on the scene promising to making mattress shopping a more honest, enjoyable experience.
Now, major players in the direct-to-consumer movement are opening physical stores in Seattle and around the world. These brick-and-mortar stores seek to deliver the best of both worlds: an in-person experience with direct-to-consumer prices.

From origins as a waterbed store, the family-owned business evolved over the last four decades into a vast, modern Wallingford shopping center for ethically sourced, sustainably made furniture and bedding. Bedrooms & More specializes in mattresses made from botanical latex harvested from rubber trees in Southeast Asia. The business sources latex from its sister company, 45th Street Bedding, the largest importer of botanical latex in the Pacific Northwest.
Bedrooms & More sells latex, pocketed coil, and innerspring mattresses. Mattresses are two-sided to improve longevity. In addition to mattresses, Bedrooms & More sells natural cotton and bamboo bedding and sustainably crafted wood furniture.
Established in 1982, Soaring Heart is another quintessential Seattle mattress retailer. At its Upper Queen Anne store, Soaring Heart sells handmade mattresses and bedding crafted from materials from organic farms, ranches, and mills.
The shop offers a variety of beds, including organic latex and innerspring mattresses. Soaring Heart also specializes in organic cotton and wool futons and shikibutons, or traditional Japanese futons. The company also sells bedding, furniture, and specialty products made from USDA-certified organic cotton, New Zealand wool, and other organic materials.
Dating back to 1882, the family-owned Seattle Mattress Company is one of the city’s oldest businesses. Its Ballard showroom showcases mattresses from Canvas Supply Company, a family-owned operation made up of Seattle-based artisans and craftspeople.
Seattle Mattress Company offers locally made latex, innerspring, and hybrid mattresses named after Seattle neighborhoods, such as the Belltown extra-firm pocket coil mattress and the Briarcliff latex-pocket coil hybrid. In addition to Seattle Mattress Company brand beds, the store sells mattresses from locally made international brands like Serta and Therapedic. The Seattle Mattress Company showroom also features luxury pillows and adjustable bases.
