General Overview

  • Sleep Science offers a dozen different memory foam and latex mattresses with varying firmness ratings to accommodate a wide range of sleeper preferences.
  • According to our customer reports, Sleep Science mattresses offer effective motion isolation, produce little noise, and conform closely to sleeper’s bodies and alleviate a good deal of pressure.
  • Sleep Science mattresses are available at Costco, which operates a total of 727 brick-and-mortar stores located throughout the United States.
  • Costco allows members to return any item (including mattresses) at any time for a full refund, provided the item is in satisfactory condition; this negates the need for a traditional sleep trial.
  • The price-points of most Sleep Science mattresses are below-average compared to similar models when an adjustable base is not included in the total cost.

Cons

  • Sleep Science owners cite some performance issues, including above-average off-gassing, weak edge support, minimal responsiveness for sex, and ‘sleeping hot’.
  • Most Sleep Science mattresses are available in (at most) two to three sizes that do not require customers to also purchase an adjustable bed base; in some cases, the base component more than doubles the overall cost.
  • The minimum delivery time for a Sleep Science mattress is seven to 10 business days; at most, these models require two to four weeks for delivery. By comparison, most mattress manufacturers will ship any model to a customer within five to seven business days at most.

Sleep Science mattresses are sold exclusively at Costco.

  • Warranty Details

Warranty: Sleep Science offers a 20-year warranty for all current mattresses.

    1. Sleep Science does not indicate if the warranty is entirely nonprorated or divided into nonprorated and prorated periods. We have reached out to Sleep Science, and will update this section as soon as we receive this information.
    2. Sleep Science will, at their sole option, repair or replace any mattress that is deemed as defective for as long as the warranty is valid. Owners are responsible for all transportation and handling costs associated with mattress repairs or returns.
    3. Sleep Science mattresses are designed for use with certain types of foundational support. According to Sleep Science, improper support includes any ‘frame, bed rails or foundation without center support rails, and a solid, continuous surface’. Use of inadequate foundational support will void the warranty.
    4. If a defective mattress has been discontinued or is not in stock, Sleep Science reserves the right to replace it with another model of comparable quality and value.
    5. The mattress cover is protected under a separate two-year warranty.
    6. The warranty will cover the following mattress defects:
      • Visible sagging or indentations in the mattress surface measuring three-quarters of an inch (3/4″) or deeper.
      • Physical flaws in the mattress that cause the foam or latex to split or crack.
    7. The warranty will not cover the following:
      • Normal increases in mattress softness that do not affect its pressure-relieving abilities, or visible sagging or indentations in the mattress surface that do not three-quarters of an inch (3/4″) or deeper. These issues are considered normal wear and tear.
      • Burns, cuts, tears, stains, and other types of physical damage resulting from owner misuse, improper cleaning, and/or inadequate foundational support.
    8. This warranty exclusively extends to original owners who purchase their Sleep Science mattress directly from Costco or any other authorized retailer. Anyone who buys or acquires their mattress from the original owner or a non-authorized retailer will not receive warranty protection.
