Luma Sleep Mattress Review

Luma Sleep Mattress Review

The Bottom Line.

  • Standard Luma hybrids made from durable Talalay latex and pocketed coils are offered in ‘Soft,’ ‘Medium Firm,’ and ‘Firm’ settings.
  • Free mattress layer exchanges for one year.
  • Luma Sleep also offers customizable latex hybrids. Users can adjust firmness by swapping the latex comfort layers.

Quick Summary

Quick Summary

Luma Sleep is an American mattress and bedding manufacturer headquartered in Florida. The company currently offers one standard mattress, along with three ‘slumber systems’ that include a mattress and a swappable pillow-top layer. Please note that all four mattresses are available in three different firmness settings: ‘Soft’ (3.5), ‘Medium Firm’ (6), and ‘Firm’ (7.5).

  • The Luma Mattress is the brand’s flagship model. This hybrid mattress is constructed with a Talalay latex comfort layer and a pocketed coil support core. The cover is made of Tencel® lyocell fabric. The Luma Mattress measures 11 1/2″ thick.
  • The Latex Slumber System is made with a 2″ natural Talalay latex pillow-top comfort layer that can be swapped out for another layer with a different firmness setting. Additionally, the mattress has a natural Talalay latex transitional layer and a natural Dunlop latex support core. This mattress measures 11″ thick.
  • The Hybrid Slumber System has a swappable, 3″ natural Talalay latex pillow-top layer, along with a natural Talalay latex transitional layer. The support core is made with pocketed coils and a high-density polyfoam base. The Hybrid Slumber System measures 14 1/2″ thick.
  • The Natural Latex Hybrid Mattress is the newest model from Luma Sleep; although it does not have ‘slumber system’ in its name, it shares the same general construction as the other two slumber systems. It is built with a swappable pillow-top comfort layer and a transitional layer, both of which are made from natural Talalay latex. The support core features a pocketed coil layer reinforced with a high-density polyfoam base. The Natural Latex Hybrid Mattress measures 14″ thick.

Luma Sleep mattresses are suitable for most sleepers due to the brand’s wide range of firmness, thickness, and composition options. The swappable comfort layers also ensure owners can adjust their bed’s firmness setting if they are dissatisfied with how it feels down the road.

Because the beds are made from resilient natural latex, they also have longer-than-average expected lifespans and should withstand excessive sagging for at least six to seven years.

Other performance factors vary by model. The hybrids provide great temperature neutrality due to their breathable covers and strong air circulation through the coil layers, while the Latex Slumber System isolates motion transfer well and does not make any noise when bearing weight.

All four Luma Sleep models have below-average price-points compared to other hybrid mattresses. Free ground shipping is available to all customers in the contiguous U.S.; additionally, the Slumber System models qualify for free White Glove delivery. All Luma Sleep beds are backed by 100-night sleep trials; the Luma Mattress and Natural Latex Hybrid Mattress come with 10-year warranties, while the Slumber System models come with 15-year warranties.

Read on to learn more about Luma Sleep Mattresses. This guide analyzes each model in terms of pricing, construction, and performance. We also offer an overview of Luma Sleep’s shipping, return, and warranty policies, as well as some similar mattress recommendations.

What Type of Sleeper is Best Suited to the Luma Sleep Mattress?

Based on our customer feedback, Luma Sleep mattresses have received the following grades among sleepers of different weights and preferred sleep positions.

Please note that these ratings are subjective, and that everyone has varying experiences on different mattresses.

Sleeper comfort and spinal support are the most important factors when it comes to selecting a mattress.

For more information on sleeping positions please see our guides for sidebackstomach and combination sleepers.

Each Luma Sleep mattress is available in three firmness settings: ‘Soft,’ ‘Medium Firm,’ and ‘Firm.’ This selection should accommodate most sleepers regardless of their body weight, sleep position, or comfort preferences.

Lighter individuals – particularly side sleepers – will probably find the ‘Soft’ setting most suitable; these beds conform closely to alleviate aches and pains and improve spinal alignment.

Heavier back and stomach sleepers are likely to prefer the ‘Medium Firm’ or ‘Firm’ models. However, the customizable latex layers can always be exchanged if owners decide a different firmness is needed.

Luma Sleep Mattress Recommendations

  • You want to purchase an all-latex or latex hybrid mattress at a below-average price-point
  • You’re looking for a bed with a relatively long expected lifespan
  • You experience frequent aches and pains in your shoulders, back, hips, and other sensitive areas
  • You enjoy sleeping on beds with thick profiles

Compare Mattresses

How Does the Luma Sleep Mattress Compare to Other Beds?

As any consumer does with a product they’re considering, our mattress assessments naturally involve comparing them with other similar products. Be it composition, firmness, or price, we think it’s important to see how Luma Sleep mattresses stack up to other beds.

Each Luma Sleep mattress is available in three firmness settings ranging from ‘Soft’ to ‘Firm.’ As a result, these beds can accommodate most sleepers.

The customizable comfort layer found in the Hybrid Slumber System, Latex Slumber System, and Natural Latex Hybrid Mattress also ensures owners can continue sleeping on the mattress comfortably for years to come. And because the mattresses are made from latex, they have relatively long expected lifespans.

  • Trial Period & Warranty Details

    Trial Period and Guarantee

Luma Sleep offers a 100-night sleep trial for all four mattress models, as well as a comfort exchange option for Slumber System and Natural Latex Hybrid Mattress owners.

    1. The 100-night sleep trial does not require any sort of break-in period; customers may return their mattress for a full refund at any point.
    2. In the event of a return, Luma Sleep will issue a full refund to all customers and coordinate free mattress pickup from their residence.
    3. In addition to the 100-night trial, Slumber System and Natural Latex Hybrid Mattress owners qualify for Luma Sleep’s free comfort exchange offer. For one year after their original purchase, customers who are dissatisfied with their bed’s firmness may request a comfort layer exchange at no extra cost. Luma requests that customers return the unused comfort layer; the company will send each customer a prepaid shipping label to offset transportation costs. The comfort exchange does not extend to owners of the Luma Mattress because that bed does not have a removable/swappable comfort layer.
    4. After the one free exchange within the one-year period, Slumber System owners may swap out their comfort layer for an extra charge that amounts to a percentage of the comfort layer’s original product price. These charges are prorated, and will increase with each successive year of ownership.
    5. After Luma Sleep has received confirmation that the mattress has been removed from the customer’s residence, a refund will be issued within seven to 10 business days.
    6. Returns are exclusively offered to customers in the contiguous U.S.; they are not available to those in Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or Canada.

    Warranty

Luma Sleep offers a 10-year warranty for the Luma Mattress and Natural Latex Hybrid Mattress; and a 15-year warranty for the Hybrid Slumber System and Latex Slumber System:

    1. Both the 10-year and 15-year warranties are entirely nonprorated.
    2. Luma Sleep will cover all charges associated with defective mattress repairs or replacements, including shipping and transportation costs.
    3. Warranty coverage is contingent on proper foundational support; the mattress must be used with a firm, solid-surface on a bed base that is capable of supporting the mattress. If the mattress is damaged due to inadequate foundational support, Luma Sleep may void the warranty.
    4. The warranty will cover the following defects:
      • Visible sagging or indentations in the sleep surface that measure three-quarters of an inch (3/4″) or deeper.
      • Physical flaws in the mattress that cause the latex materials to split or crack.
      • Manufacturing flaws associated with the mattress cover, including faulty zippers.
    5. The warranty will not cover the following:
      • Sagging or indentations in the sleep surface that do not measure three-quarters of an inch (3/4″) or deeper.
      • Repair or replacement requests that occur due to changes in the owner’s comfort preference after one year (Slumber Systems and Natural Latex Hybrid Mattress only).
      • Burns, cuts, tears, stains, and other types of physical damage that occur due to misuse, neglect, or improper foundational support.
    6. This warranty is non-transferable. It is exclusively available to original owners who purchase their mattress from Luma Sleep or an authorized retailer. Those who buy or acquire their mattress from the original owner or a non-authorized retailer will not be eligible for warranty coverage.
