How Is the Mattress Shipped?
All IKEA foam, memory foam, and latex mattresses are rolled up and vacuum-sealed for shipping; this allows them to fit inside most vehicles.
The Haugesund and Haugsvär innerspring mattresses are also shipped in this fashion. The remaining innerspring and hybrid models — Hesstun, Hjellestad, and Holmsbu — are not rolled up, and the boxes will not fit inside most vehicles; this means that most customers will require home delivery for these models.
-
Where Do They Ship?
Mattress deliveries are available in the contiguous 48 states; mattresses and other items weighing more than 70 pounds cannot be shipped to Alaska or Hawaii.
-
White Glove Delivery?
IKEA does not offer white glove delivery for their mattress line.
-
Full Shipping Details
The delivery policy for IKEA mattresses is as follows:
- IKEA mattress shoppers may coordinate mattress orders and deliveries online or at a brick-and-mortar IKEA store. Customers who visit physical stores have the option of taking their mattress home with them, rather than having it delivered. However, those who purchase a mattress online will not be able to pick up their order at a brick-and-mortar store.
- Each IKEA customer will receive an ‘estimated delivery date’ after their purchase has been finalized; this is not a guaranteed delivery date. Order processing typically takes one to two business days, although shipments may take place anywhere from four hours to five business days after an order has been placed.
- Customer information — including the shipping address and contact phone number — cannot be altered once an order has been submitted. If customers need to adjust their delivery information, then they must cancel the current order and submit a new one.
- IKEA ships mattresses through third-party delivery services. As soon as the delivery provider has received a product shipment, the customer will be contacted using the phone number included in the order. Customers will typically be able to select their preferred date of delivery, although certain days may not be available. All deliveries are made between 8am and 10pm; in most cases, delivery providers will offer a more specific delivery timeframe.
- When an IKEA mattress is delivered, movers will place the mattress in a room of the customer’s choice. If they are unable to move the mattress into this room, then they will leave the mattress in a different room of the house or apartment. Customers should ensure that mattress movers have full access to their preferred room prior to the delivery.
- An adult (18 years or older) must be present at the shipping address when the delivery is made. If no one is available to receive the mattress, then the customer will incur a re-delivery fee.
- IKEA does not ship to P.O. boxes or air/army post offices (APOs).
-
Old Mattress Removal?
Because Ikea utilizes third-party couriers for mattress deliveries, the company does not offer old mattress removal services.

Trial Period and Warranty Details
Trial Period and Guarantee
- Customers who choose to return their mattress within 365 days of the original purchase will be entitled to a full refund minus delivery fees.
- Ikea’s ‘Love It or Exchange It‘ policy allows customers to exchange their mattress for a different model found at a brick-and-mortar store. Customers may exchange their mattress once during the original 365-night period. Original mattresses with stains or visible damage will not be eligible for exchange.
- Original receipts are requested for returns, exchanges, and store credits. Refunds will be issued to the card used to make the original purchase. If the customer is unable to produce a receipt, Ikea will be able to track their orderusing one or more of the following:
- The credit or debit card used for the purchase.
- The store credit number.
- The gift card number.
- The order number.
- In the event that Ikea is unable to locate the order without a receipt, the customer may choose to receive a ‘merchandise credit’ for the lowest-selling price of the mattress within the 365-night period. Another option is for the customer to locate their original purchase by completing a ‘mail check refund request’.
- For mattresses purchased online or over the phone, customers will have two options when it comes to returning their mattress:
- Return the mattress to a brick-and-mortar store. Customers should print off a copy of their order confirmation to be used as a receipt. The refund will be issued on the card used to make the original purchase, so this card must be present. Customers must also bring a state-issued form of photo identification (such as a driver’s license or passport).
- Arrange for Ikea to pick up the mattress from their current residence. These services are available Monday through Saturday between the hours of 10am and 8pm. Delivery fees may apply. Customers may be asked to submit photos if they are returning a damaged or defective mattress.
Warranty
Ikea offers a 25-year limited warranty.
- When a warranty claim is submitted, Ikea will — at its sole discretion — decide if the mattress should be repaired or replaced.
- A refund includes the full product cost, as well as ‘costs of repairs, spare parts, labor and travel for repair staff’. This does not include repair work that has not been authorized by Ikea. The refund is granted on the condition that the mattress is accessible for repair without additional required costs.
- If a customer wishes to replace a mattress that is no longer manufactured or sold, then Ikea will issue an ‘appropriate replacement’.
- The Ikea mattress warranty will not cover the following:
- Damage that occurs due to improper installation or storage, including instances when the mattress is used outside or in a ‘humid environment’.
- Damage caused by ‘impacts or accidents’.
- Tears, cuts, scratches and other types of damage that do not occur during the manufacturing or delivery processes.
- Normal wear and tear.
- Due to the construction of foam, memory foam, and latex mattresses, Ikea urges customers to use the mattress for at least one month. This will allow sufficient time for the mattress to adapt to their bodies and alleviate pressure.
