While both mattresses are similar, the Nectar is better for those looking for a ‘Medium Firm’ feel on an all-foam mattress
The Leesa is ideal for fans of foam mattresses with a slightly softer, ‘Medium’ feel.
Both beds have excellent motion isolation, produce minimal noise, and sleep relatively cool for all-foam mattresses.
Nectar vs. Leesa Mattress Overview
Nectar vs. Leesa Mattress Overview
NectarSleep first launched in 2016. The company’s flagship bed, the Nectar Mattress, is constructed with a gel memory foam comfort layer and a support core made of high-density polyfoam. The mattress measures 12 inches thick. In terms of firmness, it is considered ‘Medium Firm,’ or 6.5 on the 1-10 firmness scale.
Leesa was established in 2014. The brand’s flagship mattress, the Leesa, is made with polyfoam and memory foam comfort layers; the support core is made of high-density polyfoam. It is ‘Medium’ in terms of firmness, or a 5 on the 1-10 scale, and measures 10 inches thick.
The Nectar Mattress and Leesa Mattress share some similarities, including general construction, price-point, weight, and performance factors like motion isolation. However, they also differ in several key ways. This guide will compare both mattress models in terms of construction, firmness, and performance, along with shipping and return policies, warranty coverage, and overall reputations of both companies.

Temperature Neutrality
x
The temperature of a mattress throughout the night is affected by how much body heat is retained. Several factors affect temperature neutrality, including material composition, layer thickness, and dissipation of heat through airflow.
The Nectar mattress sleeps somewhat warm, but the lyocell cover and gel memory foam offer more breathability than many competing memory foam models

Edge Support
x
The degree to which the perimeter of the mattress supports body weight. In some cases, mattresses may sink when weight is applied. This sinkage, often called “roll-off”, affects how closely you might sleep to the edge of the bed.
The Nectar mattress offers better edge support than most all-foam mattresses at this price range due to its dense foam layers, though some owners have reported sinkage after less than one year of use.

Sleep Position Ratings
The Nectar Mattress
The Nectar Mattress has a ‘Medium Firm’ feel that balances softness and support. This setting is most suitable for back and stomach sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds, and side sleepers who weigh at least 30 to 40 pounds more.
Lighter people are likely to find the Nectar Mattress excessively firm. This is especially true for side sleepers, who typically need more cushioning to cradle their hips and shoulders, leading to better spinal alignment. At 12 inches thick, the Nectar Mattress has a slightly thicker-than-average profile, which can ease the process of getting in and out of bed easier for heavier individuals.
The Leesa Mattress
The Leesa is ‘Medium’ and provides close, targeted conforming to the sleeper’s body. It is optimal for side sleepers who weigh 130 to 230 pounds, as well as back and stomach sleepers who weigh 230 pounds or less.
Heavier individuals may find the Leesa too soft. This softness can cause uncomfortable sagging that compromises support and causes pain and pressure points to build up. The Leesa has a 10-inch profile, which is on par with the average mattress thickness.

How Is the Nectar Mattress Built?
The Nectar Mattress is designed with a 3-inch comfort layer of gel memory foam comfort layer and a 2-inch transitional layer of polyfoam. The support core is constructed from 7 inches of high-density memory foam and polyfoam, which helps reinforce the bed and prevent sagging in the sleep surface.
The Nectar Mattress isolates motion transfer very well and does not make any noise when bearing weight. These qualities make the mattress suitable for couples, especially if one or both of the sleepers awaken easily due to movement or noise. It also sleeps cooler than most competing all-foam beds, due in part to its gel-infused comfort layer and breathable cover.
Lastly, the Nectar Mattress is exceptionally lightweight – 74 pounds in a queen size – making it relatively easy to lift and rotate.
How Is the Leesa Mattress Built?
The Leesa Mattress has a two-tier comfort system. The top polyfoam layer has a density of 3 PCF and an indentation load deflection (ILD) of 13, while the second memory foam layer has a density of 3 PCF and an ILD of 9. These components create a ‘Medium’ feel that conforms closely.
The bed’s high-density polyfoam support core provides strong reinforcement for the bed and helps the sleep surface withstand sagging.
Like the Nectar Mattress, the Leesa also excels at motion isolation and is virtually silent when bearing weight. The comfort layers also provide exceptional padding, which can alleviate aches and pains for sleepers.
In terms of weight, the Leesa Mattress weighs 71 pounds in a queen size, making it even lighter than the Nectar Mattress.
