The Layla is a flippable memory foam mattress which has been infused with copper for pain relief and a cooler sleep.
The Leesa is a medium mixed-foam mattress at an affordable price.
Both mattresses have above-average motion isolation and conforming qualities, ideal for sleeping with a partner.
Layla vs. Leesa Mattress Overview
Layla vs. Leesa Mattress Overview
Launched in 2015, Layla sells one mattress: the flagship Layla Mattress, which is a flippable memory foam model with a different firmness on each side. One side is medium-soft (4 out of 10) with two comfort layers, while the reverse is a firmer (7 out of 10) option with one comfort layer. Both sides have a top layer of copper-infused memory foam, which promises a cooler sleep as well as pain relief for joints and pressure points.
In addition to its comfort layers, the Layla also features a sturdy polyfoam support core. As a flippable mattress, the Layla offers excellent versatility, both for your own use or for use on a guest bed. Back-sleepers of any weight will appreciate this mattress the most, as it earned scores of “very good” for back sleepers below 230 lbs. and “good” for back-sleepers above 230 lbs. However, it is also appropriate for side-sleepers below 230 lbs. and stomach-sleepers below 130 lbs.
Leesa was founded in 2014 and offers four mattresses, including the flagship Leesa Mattress. This mixed-foam mattress has a medium firmness level of 5 out of 10 and is “good” or “very good” for all sleep types and weights, making it a solid choice for most customers. It is built from a 6-inch support core of high-density polyfoam and has two 2-inch comfort layers: a middle section of memory foam and a top layer of exclusive LSA-200 foam.
This top layer is a recent addition to the model and is meant to counteract both heat retention (a major concern for sleepers who tend to sleep warm) and over-compression into the memory foam layer. Together with the support core, these layers provide an extremely versatile mattress with good support and pain relief. It would work equally well in the master bedroom as a guest room.
Although they are both memory foam mattresses, the Layla and Leesa differ in style, firmness, and several other factors. By understanding these differences, it will be easier to decide if either would be a good fit for you.

Off-gassing
x
Most new products emit chemical smells after being removed from packaging. Off-gassing odors are considered non-toxic, but can be quite unpleasant nonetheless.
Layla Mattresses really shouldn't emit much odor compared to other all-foam mattresses and our testing shows this to be the case.

Pressure Relief
x
This refers to the degree to which a mattress molds to or cradles the contours of the body. This helps alleviate pressure point pain, especially on the hips and shoulders.
The Layla Mattress conforms closely for added pain and pressure relief, and the copper-infused foam can also improve circulation in sleepers.

Temperature Neutrality
x
The temperature of a mattress throughout the night is affected by how much body heat is retained. Several factors affect temperature neutrality, including material composition, layer thickness, and dissipation of heat through airflow.
Given the higher quality foams used, the Layla mattress can trap heat but no more than your average memory foam bed

Edge Support
x
The degree to which the perimeter of the mattress supports body weight. In some cases, mattresses may sink when weight is applied. This sinkage, often called “roll-off”, affects how closely you might sleep to the edge of the bed.
Edge support is a common issue with memory foam mattresses, buyers should expect some sinkage around the perimeter of the bed where people tend to sit.

Noise
x
Certain mattresses – particularly those with coils – can be quite noisy when bearing weight. Others are nearly silent. Material composition is often the limiting factor for noise potential.
The Layla Mattress is virtually silent when bearing weight.

Sex
x
Mattresses that are bouncier and more responsive tend to be better for sex, as they’re easier to change positions on. In contrast, unresponsive mattresses can cause couples to have trouble switching positions.
Like most memory foam models, the Layla Mattress is not particularly bouncy, and may not be responsive enough for some couples.

Sleep Position Ratings
Layla Mattress Sleeper Ratings
While its flippable nature allows the Layla to offer more than one firmness rating, it isn’t the right choice for everyone. Back-sleepers are the most likely to appreciate this mattress, as both sides offer excellent comfort and support no matter your weight. (It earned a “very good” rating for back-sleepers under 230 lbs. and a “good” rating for those who weigh more than 230 lbs.)
People who sleep on their side will enjoy the Layla as well, particularly if they weigh less than 230 lbs.; those who weigh more may find that each side is either too soft or too firm. Likewise, stomach-sleepers above 130 lbs. are unlikely to enjoy this mattress for similar reasons.
Leesa Mattress Sleeper Ratings
The Leesa Mattress has received “good” or “very good” scores for all sleep types and weights. Of course, some people will still enjoy the Leesa more than others. Back sleepers above 130 lbs. and stomach sleepers between 130 and 230 lbs. will be the most likely to fall into this category, as they were the groups for which the Leesa earned its “very good” ratings.
While the Leesa is still a good choice for other groups, sleepers with mobility problems should be aware that the Leesa has a relatively low profile when compared to some mattresses, which can make getting out of bed more difficult.

How Is the Layla Mattress Built?
The Layla uses only materials which have been CertiPUR-US®-Certified as carcinogen and toxin-free, allowing for a peaceful and worry-free sleep.
It is built from a 4.5-inch polyfoam core which provides resilient support no matter which side you sleep on. Both sides feature a top comfort layer of copper-infused high-density memory foam, measuring 3 inches on the medium-soft side and 1 inch on the firm side. Layla claims its copper infusion has multiple benefits, some of which include antimicrobial properties, improved temperature regulation, and variable support to provide pain relief for joints and pressure points. This is the only comfort layer for the firm side, while the medium-soft side has a 2-inch middle layer of convoluted foam for contouring and air flow.
Memory foam mattresses are often a good choice for people with joint pain, but the Layla’s extra features make it an even more attractive option for those who need pain relief.
How Is the Leesa Mattress Built?
The Leesa Mattress uses foams which have been CertiPUR-US®-Certified as carcinogen and toxin-free. It features a 6-inch support core of high-density polyfoam, as well as two comfort layers.
The first, next to the support core, is a 2-inch memory foam layer to provide sleepers with the excellent contouring they have come to expect from memory foam mattresses. The top layer is made using their exclusive LSA-200 foam, which they boast has superior heat regulation and support, particularly for side sleepers who may otherwise find that memory foam mattresses have too much sink. The cover is a grey polyester/Spandex blend with four white stripes for a pop of style.
Overall, the Leesa is a true medium-firmness mattress with a rating of 5 out of 10. This provides an excellent sleep experience for all sleep types and weights, though back-sleepers above 130 lbs. will appreciate it the most.

Trial Period Details
Layla offers a 120-night sleep trial for the Layla mattress.
To ensure you’re happy with your new mattress, Layla offers customers a 120-night sleep trial. This begins with a mandatory two-week “break in” period, as it will take some time before your mattress regains its original shape. After this is over, you have 106 nights to decide whether or not the Layla suits your needs and can return the mattress at any time during this period.
If you choose to return it, Layla will refund all mattress costs but will not refund the delivery fees. However, they will not charge you for pick-up of the mattress and where possible will donate it locally.
Warranty
Layla offers a lifetime warranty
We estimate that the Layla Mattress will have a lifespan of 6-8 years with normal use. However, Layla stands behind their product with a non-transferable lifetime warranty. This covers flaws in both the cover (such as unraveling) and the foam itself, such as impressions and sagging which are deeper than one inch. The company may choose to repair your mattress rather than replace it when possible, and some repairs or replacements may involve a $50 shipping charge.
The warranty is void if you do not correctly support your mattress, if you leave it in the original packaging for longer than two weeks, use it in a commercial facility (including Airbnb), or flip it incorrectly.

Customers in the contiguous U.S. states and Canada can take advantage of free shipping, while Hawaiians and Alaskans must pay an additional fee. International shipping is unavailable.

Full Shipping Details
Your mattress will not be shipped until 3-5 business days after your purchase, as each Layla Mattress is made to order. Shipping is done via FedEx Ground from the Layla facility to Pacoima, California, and customers in the contiguous U.S. can expect their mattress within 2-5 days. Customers in Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii should be prepared for a longer shipping period. For a better idea of when your mattress will arrive, use the provided FedEx tracking number. As FedEx only delivers curbside, you should either be able to lift the mattress yourself or have help ready to do so.
Leesa offers a 100-night sleep trial for the Leesa Mattress.
Before deciding whether to keep your mattress, you have a 100-night period to sleep on it and test it out. This period begins with a mandatory 30-day break-in so that you don’t return it before you become accustomed to it and really understand how it sleeps. After this, you can return it at any point over the next 70 days for a full refund (minus any White Glove delivery, mattress removal, or shipping fees).
Should you decide not to keep the mattress, Leesa will handle the removal and pick-up process and will attempt to donate the used mattress locally.
Warranty
Leesa offers a 10-year non prorated warranty
Most mattresses have a lifespan of 6-8 years, so Leesa’s 10-year warranty will allow plenty of time for most people. This non prorated warranty covers indentations over one inch, mattress construction flaws or foam defects, and problems with the mattress cover (including its zipper and seams). In some cases Leesa will repair your mattress rather than replace it, and the owner is liable for shipping costs.
Keep in mind that your warranty will be voided by inadequate support and cannot be transferred. If you do take advantage of your warranty, you have the chance to upgrade instead by paying the difference between your old and new mattress styles.
