Brooklyn Signature vs. Leesa Mattress Overview
Brooklyn Signature vs. Leesa Mattress Overview
Brooklyn Bedding was founded in 2009 as an offshoot of R&S Mattress, which was itself founded in 1995. In addition to five other foam and hybrid mattresses, they sell their flagship mattress, the foam hybrid Brooklyn Signature. This 11.5 inch tall mattress is available in three firmness options: soft (3.5 out of 10), medium (5.5 out of 10), and firm (7.5 out of 10), allowing customers to customize their mattress to their sleep needs.
The support system is built from a 6 inch base of pocketed coils, as well as 1 inch of high-density polyfoam. Two comfort layers — 2 inches each of polyfoam and gel-infused polyfoam — are then topped with a cotton cover containing quilted polyfoam for additional contouring. Overall, our testing has shown the Brooklyn Signature to be “good” or “very good” for all sleep types and weights.
Founded in 2014, Leesa offers both a hybrid model and their flagship Leesa Mattress. A mixed-foam mattress with a medium firmness (5 out of 10) level, the Leesa has earned a “good” or “very good” rating for all sleep types and weights in our testing.
Its support core of 6 inch high-density polyfoam creates a stable base for two comfort layers, including a 2 inch middle section of memory foam and a 2″ top layer of proprietary LSA-200 foam. The company claims this proprietary foam allows for better temperature regulation as well as preventing over-compression of the comfort layers. Like many other foam mattresses, the Leesa also boasts of superior pain relief, particularly for joints and pressure points.

The Signature's pocketed coil and high-density polyfoam base layers reinforce the mattress well and help reduce sinkage along the edges.

Sleep Position Ratings
The Brooklyn Signature
The Brooklyn Signature mattress did well in our testing, receiving “good” or “very” good scores across the board, appealing to all sleep types and weights. It scored the best for side sleepers below 230 lbs and all back sleepers, though stomach sleepers and heavier side sleepers may also find that the Brooklyn Signature works well for them.
At 11.5 inches tall it has a slightly higher profile than some other mattresses, but isn’t so tall as to create difficulties for those with mobility issues, or who want a bed which is easy for their children or pets to access.
The Leesa Mattress
The Leesa Mattress has shown broad appeal, receiving “good” or “very good” scores in our testing for all sleepers regardless of their weight or sleep type. This, along with its true medium firmness rating, makes it a very versatile mattress choice. Back sleepers above 130 lbs and stomach sleepers between 130 and 230 lbs are the most likely to enjoy the Leesa, and both categories earned a “very good” rating. Of course, it still ranks as a “good” choice for other sleepers.
As the Leesa has a slightly lower profile than the Brooklyn Signature, customers with mobility problems should consider whether it will be high enough with their frame to allow for easily getting out of bed.

How Is the Brooklyn Signature Built?
The Brooklyn Signature mattress is a hybrid, meaning that is combines CertiPUR-US®-Certified foam (polyfoam variants, in this case) with a pocketed coil design. This will appeal to customers who are interested in memory foam but prefer the coil support of a traditional mattress, as well as those who want more “bounce” than is possible with a purely memory-foam option.
The mattress’s design begins with its support core, which is a combination of a 6″ pocketed coil layer and a 1 inch high-density polyfoam layer. The two support layers include a 2 inch polyfoam layer as well as a 2 inch gel-infused polyfoam layer, the latter of which is intended to allow for a cooler sleep than non-infused foam mattresses. Additionally, the cotton cover included quilted polyfoam for better contouring.
As the Brooklyn Signature comes in three firmness options (soft, medium, and firm), the construction of each option will vary slightly in density and feel. Overall, this creates a good mattress for all sleep types and weights.
How Is the Leesa Mattress Built?
All foams used in the Leesa Mattress have been CertiPUR-US®-Certified, which guarantees they are carcinogen and toxin-free. The support core of this mattress is a 6 inch layer of high-density polyfoam, a choice which allows for a solidly medium (5 out of 10) firmness level when combined with the two comfort layers.
The first of these layers, 2 inches of memory foam, is next to the support core and provides better-than-average contouring and motion isolation. The second is a 2 inch layer made from Leesa’s exclusive LSA-200 foam. This polyfoam is a recent addition to the model, and according to Leesa it has superior heat regulation qualities and provides better support for side-sleepers. The mattress cover is a grey polyester/Spandex blend with four white stripes.
As a medium-firmness mattress, the Leesa has broad appeal and provides an excellent sleep experience regardless of sleep style or weight. However, back-sleepers above 130 lbs will find it suits them best.

During this period you cannot return your mattress, but once you enter the second 90-night section of your trial you can initiate the return process at any time. You will receive a full refund on your mattress if you choose to do so, though shipping charges are non-refundable.
Warranty
Brooklyn Bedding offers a 10-year non prorated warranty
For ten years after your mattress purchase, Brooklyn Bedding will repair or replace your mattress if it develops one of the flaws covered by their warranty. These include foam defects which cause splitting or cracking, as well as any lingering indentations greater than 1 inch in depth.
Normal changes to the foam material, stains or other owner damage, and indentations of less than 1 inches are not covered. Additionally, the warranty is voided if you do not support your mattress properly, and it cannot be transferred if you give away or sell your mattress.

Trial Period
Leesa offers a 100-night sleep trial for the Leesa Mattress.
Before deciding whether to keep your mattress, you have a 100-night period to sleep on it and test it out. This period begins with a mandatory 30-day break-in so that you don’t return it before you become accustomed to it and really understand how it sleeps. After this, you can return it at any point over the next 70 days for a full refund (minus any white glove delivery, mattress removal, or shipping fees).
Should you decide not to keep the mattress, Leesa will handle the removal and pick-up process and will attempt to donate the used mattress locally.
Warranty
Leesa offers a 10-year non prorated warranty
Most mattresses have a lifespan of 6-8 years, so Leesa’s 10-year warranty will allow plenty of time for most people. This non prorated warranty covers indentations over one inch, mattress construction flaws or foam defects, and problems with the mattress cover (including its zipper and seams).
In some cases Leesa will repair your mattress rather than replace it, and the owner is liable for shipping costs. Keep in mind that your warranty will be voided by inadequate support and cannot be transferred. If you do take advantage of your warranty, you have the chance to upgrade instead by paying the difference between your old and new mattress styles.
