What You Need to Know about Luma Sleep Mattresses

Mattress Type and Components:

  • Luma Sleep offers latex and hybrid mattresses. A total of three different models make up the company’s current mattress lineup:
    • The Luma Mattress is a hybrid model featuring a comfort system made of Talalay latex. The support core is constructed with pocketed coils and a base layer of high-density polyfoam.
    • The Latex Hybrid Slumber System is essentially the Luma Mattress with an additional, interchangeable top layer of Talalay latex that comes in one of three firmness ratings; customers can swap out the layer with one of a different firmness to suit their changing sleep preferences. Like the Luma Mattress, the comfort system has a non-removable layer of Talalay latex, and the support core has pocketed coils and a high-density polyfoam base layer.
    • The All-Latex Slumber System also features an interchangeable top layer of Talalay latex with three available firmness settings. The support core is constructed with a top layer of Talalay latex and a bottom layer of firm Dunlop latex.
    • All three Luma Sleep mattress models feature covers knit from Tencel® lyocell.

Pros:

  • All three of Luma Sleep’s current mattresses are available in three different firmness settings to accommodate sleepers with varying comfort preferences.
  • In addition to free standard shipping, customers who order the Latex Hybrid Slumber System or the All-Latex Slumber System receive two complimentary latex pillows. The All-Latex Slumber System qualifies for complimentary White Glove delivery, as well.
  • There is no mandatory break-in period associated with the sleep trial; customers may return their mattress for a full refund at any point during the trial, and will not be charged for mattress shipping and handling. By comparison, many mattress manufacturers require purchasers to test out their mattress for at least 30 nights before they can return it, and will also charge customers for shipping and handling expenses.

Cons:

  • Luma Sleep launched in 2015, so the long-term performance of the company’s mattresses has not been accurately evaluated.

Product and Price Range: Luma Sleep mattresses are available in six sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and California King. Prices vary by selected model and size; a full price breakdown is found below. All Luma Sleep mattresses are manufactured in the United States.

Amazon rating: None of Luma Sleep’s current mattresses are available for purchase on Amazon.com.
BBB rating: Luma Sleep has not earned a grade from the Better Business Bureau

Where Do They Ship?: Luma Sleep will ship mattresses anywhere in the United States and Canada.
Delivery Fee: Standard shipping is free within the continental United States. Deliveries to Alaska and Hawaii will incur an additional $100 fee; Customers in Canada should contact Luma Sleep about price quotes for their delivery location. Additionally, White Glove delivery is free for orders of the All-Latex Slumber System, and available for $99 for orders of the Luma Mattress and the Luma Hybrid Slumber System. Delivery Policy: The delivery policy for Luma Sleep is as follows:

  1. All standard Luma Sleep deliveries are coordinated through UPS, FedEx, and other ground courier services. Mattresses generally ship three to four business days after the order is placed, and will arrive at the customer’s address after another one to five business days. Expected wait time is longer for deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada.
  2. Standard deliveries through UPS, FedEx, or other couriers will be left at the customer’s front door; a signature will not be required. Purchasers living in apartments or condominiums should alert their front desk about their upcoming delivery; otherwise it may be refused and returned to sender at the customer’s expense.
  3. White Glove delivery will require customers to be at home when their mattress arrives.

Old Mattress Removal: Old mattress removal is offered as part of Luma Sleep’s White Glove delivery; it is available for $50 for orders of the All-Latex Slumber System, and $149 for orders of the Luma Mattress or the Luma Hybrid Slumber System (with additional fees for White Glove services). Old mattress removal is not available for standard deliveries.
Availability: Luma Sleep mattresses are available on the Luma Sleep website; current models are not available for sale on Amazon.com. Luma Sleep does not operate any brick-and-mortar stores or showrooms.

Sleep Trial and Warranty Information

Trial Period and Guarantee: Luma Sleep offers a 100-night sleep trial for all mattresses.

  1. There is no mandatory break-in period. Customers may return their mattress at any point during the sleep trial in exchange for a full product refund.
  2. In addition to the trial period, Luma Sleep offers the ‘Extreme Comfort Exchange‘: customers may swap out the interchangeable comfort layer of their Latex Hybrid or All-Latex Slumber System for one of a different firmness within one year of their original purchase. One exchange is offered per customer.
  3. Luma Sleep will cover all handling and transportation costs for mattress returns within 100 nights, and will also arrange for personnel to pick up the mattress at the owner’s residence. All returned mattresses are either recycled or donated to charity.
  4. Mattress refunds are issued within seven to 10 days after the mattress pickup has been confirmed.

Warranty: Luma Sleep offers a 10-year warranty for the Luma Mattress; and a 15-year warranty for the Latex Hybrid Slumber System and the All-Latex Slumber System.

  1. Both the 10-year and 15-year warranties are exclusively nonprorated. Luma Sleep will, at their sole option, repair or replace all mattresses that are deemed defective at no extra charge to the owner (including shipping costs) for as long as the warranty is valid.
  2. Luma Sleep mattresses are designed for use on foundations that provide adequate support for both the mattress and the user. The warranty will be voided if owners use an insufficient foundation to support their mattress.
  3. Customers may elect to upgrade their mattress if a replacement is needed. In these cases, Luma Sleep will cover all handling and transportation costs associated with the exchange; owners will be responsible for paying the difference between the original model and its upgrade. Replacement mattresses are subject to the same warranty as the original mattress, regardless of the remaining coverage period.
  4. The warranty will cover the following mattress defects:
    • Visible indentations or sagging that measure a half-inch (1/2″) or deeper in the surface of a Latex Hybrid Slumber System or All-Latex Slumber System; or three-quarters of an inch (3/4″) or deeper in the surface of a Luma Mattress.
    • Physical flaws in the mattress that causes the latex to split or crack despite proper use and adequate foundational support.
    • Manufacturing flaws associated with the cover, including cracked and broken zippers.
  5. The warranty will not cover the following:
    • Normal increases in latex softness that do not affect its pressure-relieving abilities; visible indentations or sagging that do not measure measure to a half-inch (1/2″) in the surface of a Latex Hybrid Slumber System or All-Latex Slumber System; or indentations or sagging that do not measure to three-quarters of an inch (3/4″) in the surface of a Luma Mattress. All of these issues are considered standard wear and tear.
    • Repair or replacement requests that occur due to changes in the owner’s comfort preference after one year of use (when the one-time Extreme Comfort Exchange is no longer valid).
    • Burns, cuts, tears, stains, and other types of physical damage that are the direct result of owner misuse, improper cleaning, and/or inadequate foundational support.
  6. This warranty exclusively extends to original owners who purchase their mattress directly from Luma Sleep or an authorized retailer. Those who buy or acquire their mattress from the original owner or a non-authorized retailer do so ‘as is’, and will not be entitled to warranty protection.
