Delivery Policy: The delivery policy for Bob’s Discount Furniture is as follows:

  1. Bob’s Discount Furniture allows mattress buyers who live in delivery service areas to choose from four shipping options:
    • Bob’s Delivery Service is a ‘white glove option’ that includes in-home assembly, packaging clean-up, and ? upon request ? old mattress removal (provided it is in sanitary condition). This service is priced at a rate based on the total order price; the costs will range from $49.99 (for orders totalling $399 or less) to $329.99 (for orders totalling $2,900 or more). Under the current price structure, customers who purchase one mattress only should pay between $49.99 and $169.99.
    • Bob’s Value Express will ship products via FedEx within five to seven business days of the original purchase; a Bob’s representative will contact customers within 24 hours of the original order to provide delivery details. This option is available at three flat pricing rates: $9.99, $19.99, or $29.99.
    • Factory Direct Shipping is available through FedEx. These orders will generally ship within five to seven business days of the original purchase; a Bob’s representative will contact customers with delivery information within 24 hours of their order. This option also comes with pricing rates of $9.99, $19.99, or $29.99.
    • Lastly, customers can qualify for reduced-rate shipping by purchasing a gift card of at least $25. The gift card must be bought separately from the mattress order. Two shipping options are available through the gift card purchase: free ground delivery from USPS Ground (which takes five to seven business days) or FedEx 2-day delivery for an additional fee of $9.50.
  2. Customers can monitor their delivery up to two days in advance of the arrival date using a tracking tool on the Bob’s Discount Furniture website. To track an item, simply input a current phone number and/or the order number.
  3. A Bob’s representative will contact customers no later than five days in advance of their delivery. Those who cannot receive their mattress on the proposed date will have the opportunity to reschedule. Changes to orders must be made within three days of the delivery date.
  4. Two days before the delivery, a Bob’s representative will contact the purchaser to provide a four-hour delivery time window; customers may be asked to provide an alternative delivery date/time in case of bad weather, vehicle problems, and other unexpected issues.
  5. Bob’s requests that mattress purchasers prepare their home in advance of the delivery by clearing all debris from the walkway and creating a clear path to the room where the mattress will be kept.
  6. Mattress purchasers who prefer to pick up their mattress in-person may do so at the company’s distribution center in Taftville, Connecticut; or at pick-up facilities in the following cities: Nashua, New Hampshire; Rockville, Maryland; Secaucus, New Jersey; or Wilmington, Delaware.

Old Mattress Removal: Old mattress removal services are offered as part of the Bob’s Delivery Service (white glove) option, under the condition that the purchaser has bought a new mattress and the old mattress is in sanitary condition.
Availability: Bob-O-Pedic mattresses are available on the Bob’s Discount Furniture Website, though delivery is limited to select areas of the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast U.S.. The company operates a total of 72 brick-and-mortar stores in 12 states.

Bob-O-Pedic Mattress Sleep Ratings

Please note that we have not received sufficient data to calculate sleep ratings for the Bob-O-Pedic Sky or MyBob Gel mattresses. We will update this section with ratings for those models as soon as possible.

Category Criteria Bob-O-Pedic Memory Foam Rating Bob-O-Pedic Hybrid Rating What Bob-O-Pedic Users Say
Customer Satisfaction Based on data collection, this is an overall customer sentiment regarding the Bob-O-Pedic mattress. 79 (Bob-O-Pedic 9 Gel)
77 (Cirrus Gel)
71 (Bob-O-Pedic Gel)
70 (Bob-O-Pedic 6)

77 (Bob-O-Pedic Hybrid)
72 (Bob-O-Pedic 9 Hybrid)
Memory foam and hybrid mattresses from Bob-O-Pedic ranged from slightly below-average to above-average, due in part to the wide selection of models and firmness ratings, as well as delivery options.
Durability The average mattress will perform for approximately seven years before it needs to be replaced. Good Fair Customers report that memory foam mattresses last roughly six to seven years, which is on par with the average lifespan for that model. Bob-O-Pedic hybrids, by comparison, are not as durable.
Motion Isolation Memory foam mattresses are engineered to isolate motion, but hybrid mattresses are more responsive and may not be able to reduce motion to the same extent. Very Good Fair Owner reports indicate that Bob-O-Pedic memory foam models isolate motion to a significant extent. The company’s hybrids isolate a minimal amount of motion.
Sex Bouncier, more responsive beds (such as hybrids) tend to be more enjoyable for sex than all-foam models. Fair Very Good The responsiveness of Bob-O-Pedic hybrids makes them highly suitable for sex, while memory foam sleepers may not be as comfortable.
Conforming Memory foam mattresses tend to conform more closely than hybrids, although hybrids with memory foam comfort layers may alleviate some pressure. Very Good Good Bob-O-Pedic memory foam mattresses — particularly those with thick comfort layers — conform closely and alleviate a good deal of pressure, say sleepers. The hybrids also conform, but not as closely.
Temperature Neutrality Memory foam will retain more body heat and sleep relatively hot, whereas hybrids often sleep much cooler. Fair Very Good According to our feedback, Bob-O-Pedic hybrids do not retain much body heat and sleep much cooler as a result. Memory foam models, on the other hand, sleep relatively hot.
Off-gassing Some mattresses emit particles when they are unpackaged, accompanied by unpleasant ‘off-gassing’ smells that can last for days. Poor Fair Even by memory foam standards, Bob-O-Pedic owners claim that the mattresses emit a high amount of off-gassing odors. The company’s hybrids produce fewer smells.
Edge Support The frames of hybrid mattresses are encased to support the springs and provide a suitable sleeping surface. All-foam mattresses, on the other hand, offer little to no edge support. Poor Very Good Bob-O-Pedic hybrids provide stable edge support, according to owners; this is especially true of the Bob-O-Pedic Hybrid, which features a six-inch foam encasement around the coil layer. The memory foam models offer little to no edge support.
Noise All-foam mattresses are typically silent, but hybrids may produce some noise due to their metallic components. Excellent Excellent All Bob-O-Pedic memory foam and models are virtually silent.
Ease of Moving and Rotating Most mattresses are relatively heavy, but some can be more unwieldy than others. Fair Fair Bob-O-Pedic mattresses are somewhat heavy and difficult to maneuver, though they never need to be flipped.

What Type of Sleeper Is Best Suited for a Bob-O-Pedic Mattress?

Based on our customer feedback, Bob-O-Pedic mattresses received the following grades among sleepers of different weights and preferred sleep positions. Please note that these ratings are subjective, and that everyone has varying experiences on different mattresses. Sleeper comfort and spinal support are the most important factors when it comes to selecting a mattress.
