Sleep Rating

Durability
Very Good

Tempur-Pedic memory foam mattresses typically have longer-than-average lifespans; mattresses in the Adapt series should perform for at least seven years.

Motion Isolation
Very Good

Motion isolation is a key strength of the Adapt mattresses from Tempur-Pedic, which absorb and minimize transfer to a significant extent.

Conforming
Very Good

Mattresses in the Adapt collection offer balanced conforming and good pressure relief. Multiple firmness options ensure that most sleepers can find a conforming level that suits their needs and preferences.

Sex
Good

The responsiveness of Adapt mattresses depends on the selected firmness, but those with firmer models say their bed is responsive enough for sex. ProAdapt and Adapt models with the hybrid design are more responsive than all-foam Adapt models.

Temperature Neutrality
Good

The temperaturen neutrality of Adapt mattresses varies by selected firmness and design; we found that softer models with convoluted foam base layers and hybrid designs tend to sleep the coolest. All models come with the dual-layer cooling cover, which can be helpful for those who sleep hot.

Off-gassing
Fair

Off-gassing is a common complaint regarding Tempur-Pedic mattresses, but hybrid Adapt models and those with convoluted base layers tend to emit fewer odors.

Edge Support
Good

The hybrid ProAdapt and Adapt models offer great edge support, but all-foam models in the Adapt series are susceptible to sinkage around the edges.

Noise
Very Good

The all-foam Adapt mattresses are virtually silent when bearing weight. Hybrid models may produce some noises, but the coils have a foam encasement that muffles squeaks and creaks to some extent.

Motion Isolation
Very Good

The GrandBed absorbs and minimizes motion transfer to a significant extent, as is common with softer all-foam beds.

Very Good

The GrandBed offers close conforming that makes it ideal for people who experience frequent aches and pains.

Sex
Fair

The GrandBed lacks responsivess and may not be adequate for some couples.

The GrandBed may produce some off-gassing but odors are neither excessively strong nor persistent.

How are the Tempur-Pedic mattresses built?

All 11 Tempur-Pedic memory foam mattresses share the same general composition, which includes a memory foam comfort layer and a high-density polyfoam support core. However, there are some variations between models. The GrandBed, for instance, has a silk and cashmere cover; all other Tempur-Pedic models have polyester covers.

It’s also important to note that the TEMPUR-ProAdapt and TEMPUR-Adapt are available as hybrids; these designs swap out the polyfoam base for pocketed coils encased in polyfoam. Tempur-Pedic mattresses range in height from 11″ to 15″, making them thicker than the average memory foam bed. The Cloud series models are all ‘Soft’ in terms of firmness; the Contour Series models are all ‘Firm’; the Adapt series models range from ‘Soft’ to ‘Firm’; and the GrandBed is ‘Medium Soft.’

How is are Sleep Number mattresses built?

All eight Sleep Number airbeds share the same general construction, which includes polyfoam comfort layers and support cores with two adjustable air chambers. Cover composition varies by model, but all contain a combination of rayon, polyester, and/or polypropylene.

Generally speaking, the Classic series beds offer firmer settings than the Performance and Innovation series. However, all eight models can be adjusted for firmness and offer a range of options to accommodate different sleep preferences. With the exception of the c4 (9″) and i10 (13″), all Sleep Number mattresses are between 10″ and 12″ thick.
