Durability

Most innerspring mattresses last between six and seven years, and Saatva mattresses seem to be on par with this lifespan. However, Euro-top construction is generally linked to below-average durability.

Motion Isolation

Like other innersprings, the Saatva mattress does not absorb or minimize motion to a significant extent. This may be problematic for certain sleepers, such as couples who share a bed, since minimal motion isolation can lead to sleep disruptions.

Off-gassing

The Saatva mattress emits some off-gassing (due in part to the polyfoam and memory foam layers), but most owners report that the odors dissipate within three to five days of unpackaging the mattress.

Conforming

Saatva features coil-on-coil construction and memory foam in the comfort layer. This allows the mattress to conform more closely and relieve pressure to a greater extent than many competing innersprings — but all-foam and latex mattresses are considered the best option for sleepers that prefer close conforming and targeted pressure relief.

Sleep Position Ratings

Saatva Mattress Sleeper Ratings

The Saatva’s thickness and firmness options make the mattress suitable for most sleepers. The ‘Medium Soft’ setting is ideal for lighter people – particularly side sleepers, who often prefer softer surfaces because they can improve spinal alignment. The ‘Medium Firm’ and ‘Firm’ settings may be the most comfortable option for heavier people, as well as back and stomach sleepers. Additionally, the Saatva is a good pick for those who tend to sleep hot; good air circulation through the coil layers keeps the bed at a comfortable temperature for most.

Loom & Leaf Mattress Sleeper Ratings

Since the Loom & Leaf is available in both ‘Medium’ (5.5) and ‘Firm’ (8) versions, the mattress is suitable for most sleepers regardless of their sleeping position or weight. Spinal alignment for side sleepers will be best with the ‘Medium’ design since it conforms closely. The ‘firm’ design conforms much less with a sleeping “on” feeling rather than sinking into the bed. Sleepers under 130 pounds, however, may find both versions to be too firm.

Thanks to the organic cotton cover and gel memory foam comfort layer, the Loom & Leaf bed sleeps cool compared to other all-foam mattresses.

How Is the Saatva Built?

The Saatva mattress is available in three versions of firmness – plush soft, luxury firm, and firm. These options make the mattress comfortable for all weight ranges and sleeping positions. The Saatva mattress features polyfoam and memory foam layers, as well as a foam-padded Euro-top cover made of organic-cotton that provides extra padding.

The Saatva also has two coil layers: a transitional layer of pocketed coils and a support core with Bonnell coils. These layers promote airflow, allowing the bed to sleep fairly cool. The layers of thick foam mean this mattress isolates motion better than most other innerspring mattresses.

The mattress is available in two heights – 11.5 inches and 14.5 inches. Though both thickness options produce the same feel for the majority of sleepers, heavier weight users may enjoy the enhanced support on the thicker option. The queen size weighs between 110 and 120 pounds, making it difficult for most owners to move or rotate the mattress alone.

How Is the Loom & Leaf Mattress Built?

The Loom & Leaf mattress is 12-inches thick and is available in two firmness levels. The ‘Relaxed Firm’ version for the Loom & Leaf conforms to the body for a sleeping “in” the mattress feeling. This can be beneficial to lighter individuals and side sleepers; the ‘Firm’ option conforms less, making it suitable for heavier sleepers and back and stomach sleepers.

The mattress layers consists of gel memory foam and standard memory foam layers.  The support core has two layers of high-density polyfoam. The organic cotton cover includes about half an inch of foam padding.  The Loom & Leaf ranks “excellent” in motion isolation makes very little noise. The mattress weighs 93 pounds in a queen size, making it above-average for all-foam beds. Some owners may not be able to move the mattress alone.
