ResMed CPAP Machine Reviews

One of the most respected names in the sleep disorder therapies market, ResMed has been been developing CPAP machines, masks, and in-home life support ventilators since 1989.  In addition to treating sleep disorders through innovative technologies, ResMed strives to reduce its environmental impact through efforts like minimizing pollution and unnecessary waste. The company’s efforts have earned it accolades such as a rank among Citigroup’s World’s Top 50 Companies and an A- rating from the BBB.

Today, ResMed focuses its efforts on developing and enhancing products designed to manage obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and other respiratory disorders. To combat OSA, the company currently offers three models of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines: the AirSense 10 Elite, the AirStart 10 CPAP, and the AirMini.

To help sleep apnea sufferers determine the best product for their unique needs and budget, we’ve taken an in-depth look at the three models of ResMed CPAP machines. Read on to compare ResMed CPAP device specs, features, pros and con, and more.

ResMed AirStart 10 CPAP

At a dramatically lower price point, the ResMed AirStart 10 CPAP offers the basic functions of a decent fixed-pressure CPAP machine. However, the device provides a more limited data report lacks many of the key features that come with the ResMed AirSense 10 Elite.

Tuck customer satisfaction rating: 79% (234 customer reviews)

  • Includes essential functions like built-in humidification system, expiratory pressure relief, and basic data tracking
  • Less heavy and more portable
  • Low price point
  • Limited data reporting
  • Lacks valuable features found in more advanced CPAP machines, including climate control, cloud connectivity, central apnea detection, and auto ramp

ResMed AirMini

Touted as the smallest CPAP machine on the market, the ResMed AirMini  weighs less than a pound and can fit in the palm of your hand. The AirMini packs a powerful punch for such a tiny machine, offering the features of many advanced, full-size models on the market. While the previous two ResMed CPAP devices offer only fixed-pressure therapy, the AirMini offers three therapy options: fixed-pressure, auto-adjusting, and “AutoSet for Her”, a setting designed specifically for women.

Tuck customer satisfaction rating: 96% (191 customer reviews)

  • Designed with travel-friendly features like ultra-tiny size and waterless humidification
  • Controllable with AirMini mobile app
  • Features three therapy modes, including fixed-pressure CPAP, auto-adjusting AutoSet, and AutoSet for Her
  • High price point
  • Recommended for travel, not full-time use

Which ResMed CPAP machine will work for me?

The most popular and possibly the most practical ResMed device is the ResMed AirSense 10 Elite, with its easy-to-use interface and useful features like climate control and auto-off and -on. Other attractive features include its advanced AutoRamp, which starts you off with a gentler, low pressure before increasing pressure after it detects you’ve fallen asleep.

By contrast, the ResMed AirStart 10 is much less expensive, but lacks important functions like cellular connectivity and automatic off and on. The ResMed AirStart 10 also offers limited data reporting, recording only basic compliance data compared to the in-depth, advanced data, AHI, RERA, and leak reporting of the AirSense 10 Elite. That’s why we only recommend the ResMed AirStart 10 CPAP machine to shoppers on a tight budget.

For sleep apnea sufferers who are constantly on the go, the ResMed AirMini is a natural choice. With its advanced features and ultra-light weight and tiny size, it’s one of the best travel CPAP machine options on the market. However, you should keep in mind that the ResMed AirMini is designed to supplement a full-size CPAP machine, not replace it. The manufacturers advise reserving ResMed AirMini for trips while relying on a standard CPAP device for regular home use.
