Please note that we do not have enough customer data to generate ratings for the New Purple mattress (which was first sold in 2018); we will update this section with information about that model as soon as we have received sufficient feedback.
|Category||Criteria||Purple Rating||Nectar Rating||What Users Say|
|Customer Satisfaction||Based on data collection, this is an overall customer sentiment regarding Purple and Nectar mattresses.||79% (Purple)|
No ratings for New Purple
|60%||Purple has received a much higher customer satisfaction rating than Nectar.|
|Durability||The average mattress will perform for at least seven years before it needs to be replaced||Fair||Fair||The lifespans of Purple and Nectar mattresses appear to be on par with the average mattress (six to seven years); however, these models have been sold for a limited time and their overall durability has not been assessed.|
|Motion Isolation||Foam-based mattresses are designed to minimize motion and isolate it from other areas of the sleep surface, which can cut down on nighttime disruptions.||Good||Good||Although they are constructed differently, both the Purple and Nectar mattresses absorb and minimize motion transfer to a good extent, according to owners.|
|Sex||Foam-based mattresses are less responsive by design, and may not be as suitable for sex as innerspring or hybrid models.||Fair||Fair||The Purple and Nectar mattresses may not be responsive or bouncy enough for some couples.|
|Conforming||Foam-based mattresses conform closely to sleeper’s bodies, which can help align the spine, target pressure points, and alleviate back pain||Good||Good||Purple and Nectar owners say they experience close conforming with their mattress, and pressure relief for both models is above-average.|
|Temperature Neutrality||Foam retains more body heat than other materials, and foam mattress owners often ‘sleep hot’ as a result.||Good||Fair||The Purple retains minimal heat and sleeps fairly cool, while the Nectar mattress sleeps too warm for some.|
|Off-gassing||Some mattresses emit particles when they are unpackaged, accompanied by unpleasant ‘off-gassing’ smells that can last for days.||Good||Fair||Odor potential is higher for the Nectar than the Purple, although most owners claim that the new mattress odors dissipate within a few days.|
|Edge Support||Because of their construction, foam-based mattresses often provide little to no edge support and may sink prematurely in areas of the bed where people tend to sit.||Poor||Poor||Edge support is a chief complaint with both the Purple and Nectar mattresses; some owners report sinkage around the edges after minimal use.|
|Noise||Foam-based mattresses create little to no noise, due to their lack of springs, coils, and other metal components||Excellent||Excellent||Both the Purple and Nectar mattresses are virtually silent when bearing weight.|
|Ease of Moving and Rotating||All mattresses are relatively heavy when it comes to moving and rotating, but some are heavier and more unwieldy than others.||Fair||Very Good||A Queen-size Nectar mattress weighs 74 pounds, making it much lighter and easier to move than a Queen-size Purple mattress (which weighs 110 pounds).|
