Quick Overview

Muse Sleep is a U.S.-based mattress and bedding product manufacturer based in North Carolina. The company currently offers one all-foam mattress model, the Muse Mattress. This bed measures 12″ thick and is available in three firmness settings: ‘Medium’ (5), ‘Medium Firm’ (6), and ‘Firm’ (7.5). The mattress is constructed with a top comfort layer of 4 PCF memory foam. The ‘Medium’ and ‘Medium Firm’ beds have a transitional layer of 3 PCF memory foam, while the ‘Firm’ bed has a transitional layer of 2.3 PCF high-density polyfoam. In all firmness settings, the mattress also has a support core made of high-density polyfoam and a phase-change material (PCM) cover made from a blend of polyethylene and polyester.

The Muse Mattress – like many of its all-foam competitors – excels at isolating motion transfer and does not make any noise when bearing weight. Both of these attributes make the bed optimal for couples who experience sleep disturbances. The three firmness settings also accommodate most adult sleepers regardless of their sleep position. Additionally, the PCM cover and gel-infused top layer help regulate the sleeper’s temperature, keeping the bed relatively cool. Its thick support layer also helps prevent sagging in the sleep surface and sinkage along the edges – both common complaints about all-foam beds.

The Muse Mattress has a slightly below-average price-point for a memory foam bed. Muse Sleep also offers free standard shipping to all 50 states and most of Canada. The mattress is backed by a 120-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty. Read on to learn more about the Muse Mattress in terms of construction, pricing, and performance. This guide also includes an overview of Muse Sleep’s shipping, return, and warranty policies, along with some similar mattress recommendations.

The Muse Mattress is available in ‘Medium,’ ‘Medium Firm,’ and ‘Firm’ options. Compared to other mattress brands offering multiple firmness options, this range is somewhat limited. Side, back, and stomach sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds will likely find a firmness setting that provides adequate comfort and support. However, those weighing less than 130 pounds may find all three settings too firm. This is especially true for side sleepers, who often need extra cushioning under their shoulders and hips to align the spine and alleviate aches and pains.

Our testing process found that the Muse Mattress should also be great for you if…

  • You hope to purchase a memory foam mattress at a reasonable, slightly below-average price-point
  • You and/or your sleep partner awaken easily due to movement or noise
  • You tend to sleep hot, especially on all-foam beds
  • You prefer sleeping on mattresses with thicker-than-average profiles

How Does the Muse Mattress Compare to Other Beds?

As any consumer does with a product they’re considering, our mattress assessments naturally involve comparing them with other similar products. Be it composition, firmness, or price, we think it’s important to see how the Muse Mattress stacks up to other beds.

The Muse Mattress absorbs and isolates motion transfer very well and makes no noise when bearing weight. It is also available in three firmness settings, ranging from ‘Medium’ to ‘Firm,’ which should accommodate most sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds. Another benefit of the Muse Mattress is its temperature neutrality.  Due to its PCM cover and gel-infused comfort layer, the Muse Mattress retains minimal body heat from sleepers and maintains a cool, comfortable sleep temperature for most. However, the bed’s firmness range may not accommodate sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds. Additionally, the mattress weighs 91 pounds in a Queen-size, making it heavier and more difficult to lift than most competing all-foam beds.
