Quick Overview

Molecule burst on the scene in 2018 with the Molecule mattress and high-performance sheets and other bedding. The company has put explicit focus on designing and producing bedding products to serve athletes who need comfort and support for restorative sleep.

A number of championship athletes are spokespeople for the Molecule brand, and while in many cases more attention has been paid to their mattress, the sheets deserve close attention.

Molecule offers two sheet sets: Percale and Sateen. Both are made with a blend of 48% Tencel lyocell and 52% cotton. Tencel, made from eucalyptus fibers, is well-regarded for breathability, softness, and durability. It pairs well with cotton to deliver a cool and inviting bedding set for professional athletes and your average Joe.

Each of the two sheet sets comes in four colors and in the six standard sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and California King. The Sateen set is available in a Split King size as well. The sets come with a flat sheet, fitted sheet, and one or two pillowcases depending on the size selected.

There’s a 30-night sleep trial backing each Molecule sheet set, so whether you opt for the Percale or Sateen, you have ample time to test the sheets out in your own bedroom.

Pros
  • Blend of Tencel and cotton promotes breathability and cooling
  • Choice of crisper Percale or smoother Sateen weave
  • Reduced water usage in Tencel fabric production
  • Four classic colors to choose from
  • 30-night hassle-free sleep trial
Cons
  • Higher-than-average price point
  • Pocket depth may not fit extra-tall mattresses, especially for Percale set
  • No long-term warranty terms

You can wash the sheets in the washing machine on delicate settings and can tumble dry on low heat. This makes keeping them clean a breeze, and ironing isn’t necessary because of the anti-wrinkle properties of Tencel.

What Buyers Say

Like the Percale sheet set, the Sateen sheets have an elastic band to hold the sheet firmly in place. The Sateen set also has the option of extra deep (17”) pockets for Queen size and up, which makes these a good option for people with a tall mattress.

The Percale and Sateen sheet sets from Molecule receive high scores for customer satisfaction thanks to their comfortable feel, classic looks, and excellent temperature regulation. Both cotton and Tencel are popular in bedding, and these sheets put both to use, creating a blend that can meet the needs of world-class athletes as well as everyday people.

While both sets are soft to the touch, the Percale sheets will sleep a bit cooler and will have a crisper feel against the skin. The Sateen sheets will boast a shinier look and a more silk-like feel. Though they don’t sleep hot, the Sateen sheets will retain slightly more heat.

The four classic colors offered by Molecule give these sheets plenty of visual appeal, and that is only enhanced by their natural resistance to wrinkling. Quality weaving and materials point to durability when washed properly, which thankfully can be easily done in the washer and dryer.
