What You Need to Know about the intelliBED Mattress

Mattress Type and Components:

  • intelliBED offers hybrid mattresses. The company currently lists three different models as part of its exclusive Numea collection (ranked by price-point from highest to lowest):
    • The Numea Indigo mattress features a comfort system with two top layers of buckling column gel (termed ‘Gel Matrix’) and two bottom layers of Talalay latex. The support core is constructed with individually wrapped pocketed coils, and the mattress is topped with a quilted cover. Please note that the Numea Indigo is currently listed as ‘out of stock’ on the intelliBED website.
    • The Numea Sapphire mattress has a comfort layer with a top buckling column gel layer, followed by a bottom layer of Talalay latex. This model also features a support core with individually wrapped pocketed coils and a quilted cover.
    • The Numea Azure is designed with buckling column gel and high-density polyfoam in the comfort layer. The support core is constructed with continuous-wire coils, and the cover is quilted.

Pros:

  • Each of intelliBED’s three current mattresses is designed for a different firmness rating, allowing shoppers to choose from varying comfort options.
  • intelliBED will cover the shipping and handling costs associated with mattress returns; many competing mattress sellers require customers to cover these charges.

Cons:

  • The price-points for all three current intelliBED mattresses are significantly above-average compared to other hybrid models.
  • Delivery charges for intelliBED mattresses start at $269 per order, which is relatively expensive compared to the rates of other mattress manufacturers.
  • A 30-night break-in period is required before customers can return their mattress for a full refund. This may cause confusion with those who don’t read the fine print.
  • intelliBED requires all customers to purchase a $90 mattress protector in order to qualify for the sleep trial and receive warranty coverage. However, the protector is non-refundable and cannot be returned with the mattress, nor does it receive coverage from the same warranty as the mattress. This could potentially cause confusion for some shoppers.

Please note: intelliBED customers must purchase a mattress protector in order to both qualify for the company’s 60-night sleep trial and receive warranty coverage. Mattress protectors are priced at $90; additionally, including a mattress protector in the purchase will increase the shipping charge by $8.

How Is the Mattress Shipped?: intelliBED mattresses are shipped in a full-sized box and not compressed. intelliBED recommends rotating the mattress once a month for the first six months of ownership, and then once every six months after that. Please note that owners who wish to return their mattress must do so using the original delivery packaging.
Where Do They Ship?: intelliBED ships mattresses anywhere in the United States and select locations in Canada.
Delivery Fee: All mattress shipments include a delivery charge of $269; when a mattress protector is purchased, the delivery fee increases to $278. Additional costs may apply for deliveries to Alaska and Hawaii. Please note that in-home assembly and packaging removal is provided for all deliveries; for an additional $90, customers can arrange for their old mattress to be removed.

Delivery Policy: The delivery policy for intelliBED is as follows:

  1. All intelliBED deliveries are coordinated through UPS and local delivery services that provide in-home assembly, packaging removal, and (upon request) old mattress removal for all customers. Delivery times will vary by shipping location; the average customer receives his or her mattress within 14 business days.
  2. intelliBED will email each customer one day before their mattress ships from the company’s manufacturing facility. Additionally, UPS will send a tracking number to the purchaser after the mattress has been shipped. They will contact the customer when the mattress arrives in their area to schedule a delivery date and time.
  3. Customers who experience delivery issues should contact intelliBED’s customer service department by phone (the number is found in ‘Company Information’ below). The hotline is open Monday to Friday from 730am to 530pm MST.

Old Mattress Removal: Old mattress removal is offered to customers for an additional charge of $90; customers will pay this fee when purchasing their new mattress.
Availability: The three current intelliBED mattresses are available on the intelliBED website; select discontinued models are also found through online retailers like Amazon.com. intelliBED operates three brick-and-mortar showrooms in Utah. The company’s mattresses are sold at 15 additional retail locations in Utah, Montana, Kentucky, and Alberta.

Sleep Trial and Warranty Information

Trial Period and Guarantee: intelliBED offers a 60-night sleep trial for all current mattresses.

  1. There is a mandatory 30-night break-in period. Customers will not be eligible to return their mattress for a full refund until after they have slept on their mattress for at least 30 nights.
  2. Customers must purchase a mattress protector to qualify for the 60-night sleep trial. However, this item cannot be returned, and customers will not receive a refund for the protector if they elect to return their mattress.
  3. Prior to initiating the return process, customers must contact intelliBed to receive a Return Authorization Number; returns will not be accepted without this number.
  4. intelliBED will issue a full refund (minus the mattress protector) for returned mattresses. Additionally, the company will cover all shipping and handling costs associated with the return.
  5. intelliBED mattresses must be returned in their original packaging and free from any stains or odors in order for the refund to be issued.

Warranty: intelliBED offers a 30-year warranty for all current mattresses.

  1. Warranty coverage begins on the date or purchase. The warranty is divided into nonprorated and prorated coverage periods:
    • The first 10 years are nonprorated. intelliBED will, at their sole option, repair or replace mattresses that are deemed defective at no charge to the customer minus transportation costs.
    • Years 11 to 30 are prorated. intelliBED will repair or replace defective mattresses at a rate of 1/30 of the original product price times the number of years the mattress has been owned. For example, let’s say the customer has owned a $3,000 bed for 15 years; the cost would amount to $1,500, or $100 (1/30 of $3,000) multiplied by 15.
  2. The warranty length and its nonprorated/prorated terms are different for mattresses used with an adjustable base. These models will receive 20 years of warranty coverage divided into nonprorated and prorated periods:
    • The first 10 years are nonprorated. intelliBED will, at their sole option, repair or replace mattresses that are deemed defective at no charge to the customer minus transportation costs.
    • Years 11 to 20 are prorated. intelliBED will repair or replace defective mattresses at a rate of 1/20 of the original product price times the number of years the mattress has been owned. For example, let’s say the customer has owned a $3,000 bed for 15 years; the cost would amount to $2,250, or $150 (1/20 of $3,000) multiplied by 15.
  3. Customers must purchase a mattress protector in order to qualify for warranty protection. However, this protector is not covered under the same warranty. Per intelliBED: ‘The mattress protector warranty is through Malouf. Their phone number is (800)517-7179. We have negotiated a warranty through Malouf that if anything happens to the mattress that the protector should have prevented (while the protector is on the bed) Malouf will cover the cost to clean or replace the product. The customer will need their sales receipt as proof they purchased the protector the same time they purchased the bed.’
  4. intelliBED mattresses are designed for use with certain types of foundational support. According to intelliBED, ‘the box spring and frame combination needs to provide a flat, firm surface for the mattress to lie on’. Additionally, Queen- and King-size mattresses must be used with a base that has firm center support. Use of improper foundational support will void the warranty.
  5. The warranty will cover the following product defects:
    • Visible indentations or sagging in the mattress surface that measure three-quarters of an inch (3/4″) or deeper.
  6. The warranty will not cover the following:
    • Visible indentations or sagging in the mattress surface that do not measure three-quarters of an inch (3/4″) or deeper, or normal increases in mattress softness that do not affect its pressure-relieving abilities. These issues are considered standard wear and tear.
    • Repair or replacement requests that occur due to changes in the owner’s comfort preferences.
    • Burns, cuts, tears, stains, and other types of physical damage resulting from owner misuse, improper cleaning, and/or inadequate foundational support.
  7. This warranty is exclusively extended to original mattress owners who purchase their intelliBED directly from the company or an authorized retailer. Those who buy or acquire their mattress from the original owner or a non-authorized retailer will do so ‘as is’, and will not receive warranty protection.
