The Ideal Nasal CPAP Mask for your Child

CPAP therapy for children can be difficult. That’s why the designers at Philips Respironics created a nasal mask that helps make CPAP a fun and comfortable experience for younger patients. Comfort and performance are combined with a whimsical design that kids love. Make every bedtime CPAP compliant for your child with the Philips Respironics Wisp Pediatric CPAP Mask - made just for kids.

Clear Field of Vision for Fid-Friendly Pre-Bedtime Activities

Respironics took the familiar design of its popular Wisp mask and minimized it for kids, giving them an unhindered sight to engage in bedtime activities such as playing with their tablet or toys, or reading bedtime stories with ease. Children who wear glasses will love the low profile design.

Comfort that Keeps Kids CPAP Compliant

Only comfortable CPAP masks get used, especially by kids. The lightweight Wisp feels almost like wearing no mask at all. There’s no forehead attachment to get in the way of a good night’s sleep. And the extra soft cushioning gently caresses the nose with minimal contact, leaving no soreness or red marks. The stable yet comfortable headgear stays firm at night so kids can sleep peacefully.

Designed to be Kid-Friendly

The vibrant giraffe spotted fabric of the Wisp excites the childhood imagination. It’s the best way to get kids to use and keep using their nasal mask.

A Headgear That Clicks and Fits

The headgear is no fuss, letting you slip it on with a click and get a fit without lots of adjustments. It’s the perfect headgear for making bedtime CPAP prep fast and easy. It’s even so easy, your children can do it themselves!

Stop Leaks with the Turn of a Dial

The innovative leak correction dial lets you fine tune your child’s nasal mask to minimize seal leakage. If leaks occur simply make the correction quickly and easily and see improvements with every night of sleep.

Select Your Nasal Cushion for the Ideal Fit

The Pediatric Wisp comes with 3 different cushion sizes to choose from. Pick from children’s small, medium, or large to fit your little patient perfectly.

Caring for Your Wisp Pediatric CPAP Mask

The Respironics Pediatric Wisp is simple to clean. Use CPAP wipes or warm, soapy water to remove dirt, facial oils and more after every use. Buildup of these materials can damage your child’s CPAP mask and shorten its usefulness. Avoid using cleaners with harsh or dangerous chemicals as they may break down the mask cushion or irritate your child’s skin.

Respironics Wisp Pediatric Nasal Mask - Designed specifically for Children

The Wisp Pediatric Nasal Mask is for children and features a child-friendly fabric template, a tweaked cushion curvature, and family support resources.

The pillow structure suits the curvature of a child's face and nose, and the free line of sight enables children to wear the mask safely during their regular bedtime activities.

A Leak Correction Dial helps you to make changes to the mask without having to remove the mask.

The three pillow styles are especially made for small children.

Care and Maintenance of Respironics Wisp Pediatric Nasal CPAP Mask

Wash the mask pieces in warm water with liquid dishwashing gel, similar to what you'd use to wash your dishes by hand. Bleach, alcohol, bleach or alcohol-based solutions, or solutions containing conditioners or moisturizers should not be used to disinfect the mask.

Wash the non-fabric pieces (the cushion and tubing) by hand every day.

Once a week, hand wash the cloth pieces and hang them to dry.

Use the headgear clips to put on and take off the mask. This helps to keep the stretchy cloth pieces in good shape.

Finding the Right Size of Respironics Wisp Pediatric CPAP Mask

When determining the right mask size for your child, a measuring gauge can be used by the respiratory therapist, nurse, or sleep technician to decide the best cushion fit.

While the infant is in the nursery, hospital, or sleep lab, the cushion should be put on his or her face to determine fit.

The cushion should fit the width of the nose without blocking the nostrils. If a child is in between sizes, the smaller size is usually tried first.

Let the respiratory therapist or doctor know if the mask does not fit correctly, or if it seems to be too large or small, so they can look at different sizes and resources for you.

What Do I Do If the Wisp Pediatric CPAP Mask is Leaking?

A limited volume of exhaled air is allowed to pass through gaps in the mask. This is critical, and these gaps must not be closed. Adjusting the mask can help if it seems to be leaking more than usual or if the system is alerting you to a leak.

If the leak is found before the child goes to sleep, make sure the headgear is properly fitted but not too close tight. The cushion may be "re-seated" by gently pulling it away from the face and then repositioning it to restore the cushion seal.

If the leak is discovered whilst the child is sleeping, nudge the cushion closer to the child's face with the Leak Correction Dial.

Is the Respironics Wisp Pediatric Nasal Mask Too Loose Or Too Tight?

Make sure the headgear straps aren't too tight or too loose. The mask will leak if it is too loose, and the child will not receive appropriate treatment.

If the straps are too tight, the skin can turn red and become irritated. If the child is in the hospital, respiratory therapists or nurses can rotate various masks on the child's face on a regular basis to check the skin underneath to prevent irritation.

To secure the mask in place, the straps should never be over tightened.
