Quick Overview

GhostBed is a mattress and bedding product manufacturer that offers the following three beds:

  • The GhostBed is a mixed-foam mattress. It is designed with comfort layers of synthetic Dunlop latex and gel memory foam, and a high-density polyfoam support core. The cover is made of polyester. The GhostBed measures 11″ thick; in terms of firmness it is considered ‘Medium Firm,’ or a 6 on the 1-10 firmness scale. (Discount code = TUCK100)
  • The GhostBed Luxe is an all-foam mattress. It includes a top layer of phase-change material (PCM), which reduces the surface temperature and allows sleepers to remain cool. Other components include additional gel memory foam and polyfoam comfort layers and a high-density polyfoam support core. The cover is padded with gel memory foam for added cooling and cushioning, as well. The GhostBed Luxe measures 13″ thick and is considered ‘Medium’ (5) in terms of firmness. (Discount code = TUCK100)
  • The GhostBed Flex  is a memory foam hybrid. It is designed with a top comfort layer of fiber padding, followed by two memory foam comfort layers and a polyfoam transitional layer. The support core consists of pocketed coils and a high-density foam base. The GhostBed Flex measures 13″ thick and is considered ‘Medium Firm’ (6). (Discount code = TUCK150)

Each GhostBed model offers certain advantages for sleeping. The original GhostBed combines the body-conforming of memory foam and the responsiveness and stability of latex; the result is a balance of softness and firmness that is ideal for sleepers of average weight. The GhostBed Luxe is suitable for lighter people because it conforms more closely to alleviate aches and pains; this can be particularly beneficial for side sleepers seeking better spinal alignment. Lastly, the GhostBed Flex offers good body conforming and – like most hybrids – sleeps noticeably cooler than all-foam mattresses.

GhostBed mattresses range in price. The brand offers free shipping to customers within the contiguous U.S. All GhostBed models come with a 101-night sleep trial. The GhostBed is backed by a 20-year warranty, while the Luxe and Flex models are backed by 25-year warranties.

Durability

Motion Isolation
Very Good

Thanks to its memory foam comfort layers, the GhostBed Flex absorbs and minimizes motion transfer to a noticeable extent.

Conforming
Good

The bed's memory foam layers offer moderate but consistent conforming that should alleviate aches and pains for most sleepers who weigh 130 lbs. or more.

A cooling cover and good airflow throughout the coil layer allows the GhostBed Flex to sleep cool and comfortable for most.

Off-gassing
Very Good

The GhostBed Flex is associated with minimal off-gassing, which is typical of hybrids with good air circulation.

Edge Support
Very Good

Like many hybrids with similar materials and designs, the GhostBed Flex provides sturdy, long-lasting edge support and should not sink prematurely.

Noise
Good

The GhostBed Flex may produce occasional squeaks and creaks, but its overall noise potential is fairly low.

The original GhostBed and GhostBed Flex both have ‘Medium Firm’ (6) feels; both are considered suitable for back and stomach sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds and prefer higher-profile beds. The GhostBed Luxe, a ‘Medium’ (5) mattress, is a better choice for side sleepers who weigh 230 pounds or less because it contours to their bodies and helps improve spinal alignment.

Our testing process found GhostBed mattresses should also be great for you if…

  • You prefer high-profile beds
  • You tend to sleep hot, particularly on all-foam beds
  • You and/or your sleep partner awaken easily due to movement or noise
  • You experience chronic aches and pains

Trial Period and Guarantee: GhostBed offers a 101-night sleep trial for both mattresses.

  3. Only one mattress return is allowed for each household.

Warranty

GhostBed offers a 20-year warranty for the GhostBed and a 25-year warranty for the GhostBed Luxe and GhostBed Flex

  1. All three warranties are partially prorated. Each warranty begins with 10 years of nonprorated coverage, followed by the prorated period. For the 20-year GhostBed warranty, prorated charges amount to 5% of the original mattress price multiplied by each year of ownership, beginning with 55% in Year 11. For the 25-year GhostBed Luxe and GhostBed Flex warranties, prorated fees are structured as follows: 5% of the original price during Years 11-15; 4% during Years 16-20; and 1% for Years 21-25.
  2.  The mattress cover will not be protected under the mattress warranty; a separate, one-year warranty will be issued for the cover.
  3. The warranty will be voided if the GhostBed mattress is not supported with a ‘firm, solid-surface, or adjustable bed base’.
  4. The warranty will cover the following defects:
    • Visible sagging or indentations that measure one inch (1″) deep or more.
    • Physical flaws in the mattress that cause the latex or memory foam to split or crack.
  5. The warranty will not cover the following:
    • Sagging or indentations that do not measure one inch (1″) or deeper, or normal ‘increases or decreases’ in the feel or recovery of the mattress. These issues are considered standard wear and tear.
    • Burns, cuts, tears, stains, and other types of damage that do not occur during manufacturing or shipping
  6.  The warranty is exclusively offered to the original owners who purchase their mattress from GhostBed or an authorized retailer. Anyone who buys or acquires the mattress from the owner or a non-authorized retailer will not receive warranty coverage.

As any consumer does with a product they’re considering, our mattress assessments naturally involve comparing them with other similar products. Be it composition, firmness, or price, we think it’s important to see how the GhostBed mattresses stacks up to other beds.

The GhostBed is priced relatively low compared to other mixed foam mattresses that include latex.
