To help keep your mattress clean and protect it from damage caused by liquid, Casper offers The Mattress Protector, which keeps your bed dry without causing excess noise or heat. Unlike other mattress protectors that can keep you awake with noisy plastic sheeting, The Mattress Protector from Casper is quiet and soft and doesn’t noticeably change the feeling of your mattress.
At 16 inches deep, The Mattress Protector is deeper than most similar products, and designed with a 360-degree elastic skirting that conforms to your mattress. The breathable cover is made from layers of polyester and waterproof polyethylene film backed by a polyester knit blend with a skirting of polyester, nylon, and spandex. Together, this creates a soft and comfortable mattress pad that resists moisture, but still allows enough airflow to prevent overheating.

Casper Mattress Protector Ratings
Our testing team conducted in-depth evaluations to rate the Casper Mattress Protector in several categories. Here’s what they found.
Casper Mattress Protector Ratings
|Category||Criteria||Pad or Protector Rating||What Our Testing Shows|
|Durability||The average protector or pad needs to be replaced after two to three years of consistent use, though occasional-use pads may last longer. Material composition is usually the most telling factor about pad durability.||Excellent||All of our testers found the Casper mattress protector to be durable, and had no complaints about how well it holds up to normal use.|
|Breathability||Mattress protectors and pads can vary in breathability. A breathable pad or protector allows air to move around the sleeper, helping maintain a neutral temperature, while others can inhibit airflow, creating a hotter sleep environment.||Good||Although the nylon cover and polyethylene film on the inside of the protector make it waterproof, that is at the expense of some breathability. However, the protector is primarily made from breathable polyester and designed with microscopic pores that encourage airflow while still maintaining spill resistance, so any temperature difference is likely to be minimal.|
|Mattress Protection||Mattress protection refers to how well the pad or protector shields a mattress from liquids, stains, and general damage.||Excellent||Casper calls their mattress protector “everything proof” and our testing confirms that it creates a completely water and moisture proof surface, preventing damage, stains, and odors from spills and accidents.|
|Comfort Adjustement||Some pads and protectors have an added comfort layer, this rating reflects how well the pad cushions a sleeper.||N/A||The mattress protector isn’t designed to add any additional comfort, but it may provide a small amount of added comfort.|
|Noise||Most pads and protectors are quiet, but some produce crinkling sounds and other noises that can annoy sleepers.||Very Good||Because of the materials used in the Casper mattress protector, you won’t have the same plastic crinkling sounds when you move. The protector is practically silent.|
|Fit||Some pads and protectors tend to bunch up under the sheets, while others come off the mattress over time. This rating reflects how well the pad/protector fits a mattress of average thickness (10”-13”).||Poor||The most common customer complaint about the Casper mattress protector is that it is too big for the mattress, and causes uncomfortable bunching and wrinkling. The protector is 16” deep, larger than most other protectors, and designed to be tucked under the mattress to prevent shifting/. Washing and drying before use does make the protector somewhat smaller, but in many cases, the shrinkage isn’t substantial enough that the cover can fit even Casper mattresses perfectly.|
Overall, the Casper Mattress Protector is an easy care, high-quality, and durable option that provides exceptional protection against stains, spills, and normal wear and tear on the mattress. It’s comfortable and silent, and doesn’t disrupt sleep like other mattress protectors can. The protector also allows enough air flow so the mattress doesn’t get too hot.
The major drawback to the Casper Mattress Protector is the fit, especially on the queen and king-size. The Casper Mattress Protector is deeper than others (16 inches as opposed to 10-13 inches) and designed with elastic skirting that can be tucked under the mattress, ensuring a perfect fit. The company also recommends washing and drying the protector before use to ensure a better fit. Nevertheless, one of the chief complaints is that even after washing, drying and tucking, the protector is still too large and shifts and bunches under the sheets during the night.

Construction and Firmness
Let’s take a closer look at how Casper protectors are made. The following table lists mattress protection level, material components, cover components (if any), and the pocket depth of the protector or pad.
|Model||Mattress Protection Level||Material Components||Cover Components||Pocket Depth|
|Casper Mattress Protector||‘High’||Waterproof Polyethylene Film
Polyester Knit Spandex
Polyester and Nylon Blend
|Polyester top layer
Waterproof film midlayer
The Casper Mattress Protector is made of soft, breathable materials designed to provide waterproof protection without creating a hot or noisy sleep surface. The thin waterproof polyethylene film provides exceptional protection against moisture without the feel or sound of many plastic covers. The cover is also designed with microscopic pores that allow for airflow, which keeps the cover from making the mattress too hot. The elastic skirting is made from a blend of Spandex, polyester, and nylon and extends all the way around the cover and is designed to conform to your mattress, no matter how deep.
Set-Up and Care Instructions
Casper recommends washing your mattress protector before putting it on your bed to help ensure a perfect fit; the company notes that it may take several washes to get the fit exactly right. The protector is machine washable on a warm cycle and can be tumbled dried on low. Do not wash with hot water or dry on high, as this will damage the mattress protector, causing shrinkage and making it less waterproof. Do not dry clean your mattress protector.
Although the Casper Mattress Protector is designed for a perfect fit, you may find that it’s deeper than necessary for your mattress. If you have excess cover, tuck it between the mattress and base.
