Brooklinen vs. Parachute – Our 2022 Sheet Comparison Guide

Written by Tuck Staff

The Bottom Line.

  • The Brooklinen and Parachute sheets are both incredibly cooling and highly rated for comfort.
  • Brooklinen sheets come with extensive sleep trials and warranties.
  • The Parachute sheets tend to be more durable, with less pilling after multiple washes.

Brooklinen vs. Parachute Sheet Overview

Brooklinen vs. Parachute Sheet Overview

Brooklinen was founded in 2014 by Brooklyn husband and wife time Rich and Vicky. The couple sought to produce high-quality bedding at an affordable price by cutting out middleman markups. The Brooklinen Classic Core sheets are made from long-staple cotton woven in a percale weave.

Parachute was founded in 2014 by Ariel Kaye with the intention of selling high-quality bedding that was affordable and easy to shop. Parachute has since expanded into many other home good areas as well as some brick and mortar stores. Parachute’s Percale sheets are made entirely from long-staple Egyptian cotton in a percale weave.

  • Please note: Brooklinen and Parachute each sell additional models beyond the ones discussed above.

Brooklinen offers linen sheet sets, made from Belgian and French flax, as well as cotton sateen sheets made from long-staple cotton.

Parachute offers linen sheets, made with European flax, as well as a set of cotton satteen sheets made from Egyptian cotton.

The Brooklinen and Parachute sheet sets are both crisp, lightweight, and very breathable. Both provide a deeply cool sleep and are rated for a high degree of comfort and softness. Although the two share similarities, each brand offers its own unique benefits. Next, we will take a look at how these two sheets stack up in terms of sleeper ratings,  composition, and pricing, as well as the finer policies and warranties of each company.

Ratings Summary

In testing the Brooklinen Classic Core and Parachute Percale sheets, there are more similarities than differences. Both are extremely cool and crisp against your skin, creating an even temperature that never gets too hot. Both sets of sheets have a very comparable feel; light, airy, with a slightly coarse, matte finish that’s common to a percale weave.

After five wash cycles, both sets softened considerably, but still maintained their wonderful, breathable quality. While we did not find any durability concerns, a select few Brooklinen Classic Core customers have voiced concerns about pilling over time; Parachute owners report almost no issues with pilling or tearing. If you follow the washing instructions, we don’t believe there should be any problems with either set wearing out.

How are the Brooklinen Sheets Made?

The Brooklinen Classic percale sheets are made from 100 percent long staple cotton. The cotton is woven with a percale weave, making the sheets lightweight, crisp, and breathable as a result. Brooklinen claims a thread count of 270 for their percale weave.

Brooklinen’s sheets are OEKO-TEX certified, meaning that they are rigorously tested to ensure they are not made or processed with harmful chemicals and substances.

How are the Parachute Sheets Made?

Parachute’s percale sheets are made from 100 percent long staple Egyptian cotton. Egyptian cotton is a specific type of cotton with a high degree of durability and breathability. This cotton is also woven with a percale weave, giving them a similar degree of breathability and soft feel. Parachute’s sheets are also OEKO-TEX certified.

Cleaning and Care for Brooklinen Sheets

Brooklinen maintains an online care guide for their sheets on their website. Always refer to the fabric care instructions for an item. Here are the highlights:

  • Wash Brooklinen’s Classic sheets at a standard rate of about once every week to two weeks.
  • Wash on a warm or cool setting  Line-dry if possible to best preserve the fabric. If line-drying is not an option, then tumble dry on low.
  • Gentle bleach may be used as a pre-soak or with a wash to brighten fabric.
  • Store sheets in a location where they can breathe. Storing sheets in a plastic box may lead to yellowing.

Cleaning and Care for Parachute Sheets

Parachute offers a detailed set of instructions online for the best care of their sheets. Always refer to the fabric care instructions for an item. Here are the highlights:

  • Do not use fabric softeners, dryer sheets, harsh liquids, or powdered detergents with Parachute sheets.
  • Machine wash sheets on a cool setting with a mild, liquid detergent. Tumble dry low.
  • Do not use bleach. Oxyclean is recommended instead for stain removal.
  • Avoid contact with products containing benzoyl peroxide, alpha hydroxy acids, and chlorine bleach. These may cause staining, discoloration, or wear on the fabric.
  • Wash sheets together with similar colors and fabrics only. Avoid washing sheets with clothing to reduce potential wear.
